Default Oops?

So I changed my oil and filter yesterday..... The drain plug on the oil pan has '1/2 inch' stamped on it ... yet the 1/2 inch socket didn't fit and I had to use a 9/16 instead, which fit perfectly?

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this before. Not that it matters I just thought it was kind of funny.

Not sure how close it is to your 1/2, 9/16 but I use a 19mm on mine. Fits perfect.

Hahaha - Go figure....the Canadian guy uses imperial and the American guy uses metric.

I just thought it was odd because the top of the nut actually says 1/2 inch on it.

That 1/2" should be the plug diameter, not the size of the hex head.
