Default Crossfire??

We Have an 86 to start and today at a show and shine the wife saw a 82 crossfire that really caught her eye. It just happens to be "kind of" for sale. Is the crossfire something to run from or is it worth another look. I'm keeping the 86 no matter what!!!! Thanks for the input from you fellow C4 guys and gals.

There's certainly nothing to run from with a cross-fire. There are a few 84's here that run very strong. IMHO, the '82 is easier to work on than an '81 with it's miles of wires and vacuum hoses hiding the engine. The '82 was the last C3 and the first electronic fuel injection which could make it valuable....someday. Bottom line, if you like it.....get it. Another 'Vette in the family can't be a bad thing.

The Crossfire has a bad rap, but it's not a bad engine.

For the most part, if it's in tune, it will be a fairly reliable and dependable motor.

If your planning on keeping it stock, just drive it and enjoy it.

If your thinking of modifying it, it's the intake that everyone frowns on. From teh factory, the ports were never opened enough to allow for ample flow, thus, it loses out on high end power. That likley won't matter to you much if you just have it to cruise around in... If you want it to be a quarter mile runner, thats another story. But if thats your goal, porting that factory intake out and supplying a few other bolt ons will put you solidly in the running.

I wouldn't run from it at all. In fact, I was just looking at an 82 to add to the collection not long ago myself. I think it would be refreshing to have less "electrical" type issues that seem to plague the C4's and more mechanical type issues that are common to teh C3's... But thats just me. (But like, you, that doesn't mean I'll get rid of the C4)

I caught myself checking prices on "mint" late C3's. I think they are awesome. I still love my C4 more though.

Hey, Big Thanks guys so far. It's clean little beauty, seafoam green and only 60K on the clock, verified, I know both owners . Bone stock and everything works. What's it worth, opinions only. Thanks

Is this just a standard coupe? There were about 18000-19000 coupes manufactured in 82. But only 723 were Silver Green (RPO code 40).

How much it's worth, I guess depends on how much your willing to pay for it

What would I guess it's value to be?? Hard to say sight unseen. If it really is an RPO 40 car, all original, low mileage, in good shape... I'd guesstimate $10K-$12K??? Thats just based on what I've seen some C3's around that model year going for around here. I know some dealers that would hold out for closer to $15K for it, and would likley get it with time. From a provate seller, you can usually get a deal a few thousand less than that.
