I am the type that changes all the fluids when I buy a new to me vehicle...
Radiator, power steering, brake, clutch, gearbox, ( or tranny) rear diff and engine
make sure you also check all the belts and hoses
Welcome aboard, enjoy and wave
congrats on the car. It sounds like your car is running way too hot just like my 90 L98 did when I first got it. Look in the Tech Tips secton of the forum and find the paper on how to clean the radiator and plenum. I'd bet that yours is full of trash and that the radiator fins are blocked with dirt. Trust me if you clean it you'll never see temps like that again. Enjoy the car.
I must be an idiot because I can't find the Tech Tips Section. Anyone mind telling me where to find it?
It turned out to be the altenator (130.00 plus 15.00 for labor). The overheating problem was also solved. There was a large amount of leaves and trash on the radiator. Thanks for the help!!!
It turned out to be the altenator and the running hot problem was cured by removing all the trash and leaves that was stuck on the radiators. Thanks for your help guys!!!!
