Default Cleaning engine compartment

I recently stopped in to the Concord mall in Delaware and there was a 15-20 corvette show inside the mall. A 1996 CE was there and the underhood area was CLEAN I mean CLEAN. The hoses, hood, engine assesories, everything was beautiful.

What products do you use to clean the underhood area?

I use a rag and simple green. I touch up diffrent parts every week so it doesn't take too long and the engine compartment stays very clean.

Just a word of caution if you have an LT-1 - water and Opti-crap don't mix! So don't try this on your LT-1!

But if you have an L-98 - just spray Simple Green straight onto a cold engine - wait five minutes and spray off with a garden hose. You can then spray a bit of armour-all or whatever, to shine up the hoses, and a bit of 'tire shine' on the inner fender wells to make them jet black again.

Wipe it down weekly with Eagle 1 spray detailer

On stainless I usually use Never Dull - sold by Eagle 1 now - or I use a good chrome polish.

If pot metal finishes start looking dull, I take several different sizes of brass wire brushs on a drill to liven them up.

I always use engine clean up time to eye ball everything under the hood. Lots of elbow grease! No water near the opti! I use Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer on anything under hood that is black. All black plastic and rubber. That includes the under side of the hood and inner fenders. It works great. I polish anything aluminum with Eagle One Never Dull wadding pads. They make aluminum look like chrome. It takes awhile to get it nice but once it's done ya just have to wipe it down every so often. Oh and I don't ever drive her in the rain! But only cause it takes to long to clean after wards.
