Well I guess competition is great for the consumer, Miami is such a big city, extremely congested and competitive. Someone will always do it cheaper which brings the price down. Just have to be careful that cheap doesn't get you cheap.
In a 10 mile radius you could have 20 stores that do stereos, window tints, alarms and car washes all from 1 storefront.
In NJ, it would have cost me over $200 just to do the rear window of my pickup truck, I'd hate to see what they want for my hatch, but then it doesn't matter, both vettes have tint already.
There is a pretty good price variance based on your location. I had the Vette tinted in NC for $120.00 and just got a 2 door Grand Am tinted in NJ for $200.00.
The side windows should be cheap, but the tinters HATE the back hatch....it's rounded, positioned at a steep angle and they have to install the tint in 3 pieces (assuming they install the tint vertically and line the seams up with the lines of the rear defroster).
I live in South Fl. also and agree it is a must for this area. I had mine done with Llumar and paid about $200, but they removed the old tint from the rear hatch. I didn't want to do that myself for fear of ruining the defrost.
Also the hatch was done with one sheet, not pieced together.
Florida Space Coast price was $150 two years ago. If you have ever attempted to put tint on an overhead double curved piece of glass you will agree most any price is a bargin.
I have been recently quoted $200 for the 3 windows with the hatch being one piece, prior to that at a diffent shop within sight of the 200 quote they want 225 and the hatch is 3 pieces
FWIW - with the ricers today you might want to check out one of their shops. That is where I had the 200 quote and they had a lot of nicely done windows for me to view.
In South Florida its a must and cost $150. for the best tints.
The $85 I mentioned was for the more everyday traditional tints. Quality tints would be in the $150-200 as mentioned. I believe they are based with teflon and have a high sun block rating. I'm sure they're worth the extra $. So maybe the prices aren't so much out of line if the rest of the prices mentioned in this post were for the real tints.
And, yeah.... definitely check out those RICER shops, that's where I was referring to and that's where I got mine done. I didn't get those super dupers though.

Not true! Just for an update, the Tint Shops around here do the rear window in all one piece. Mine came out great!! The cost for all three windows w/20% tint came to $139.00.
in baton rouge i would recommend southdowns glass they did a great job on my brothers truck and the price seemed reasonable so i would give them a call for price
