I just bought an 87 corvette with a 4+3 tranny. on the drive home from the guys house the car was fine and i drove it around for 2 days then a friend of mine got in the car when it was off and started moving the shifter around and pressing on the clutch now there is no pressure to the clutch and the gears keep getting stuck in 2 and 3. so i went under the car and wiggled all the linkage so that it would go back in gear and it did but when i started the car again it jumped forward and the gears got locked in 2 and 3 again. has this ever happened to anyone before and what can i do anyone with ideas please help.
Clutch slave or master. You better hope it's the slave because the master is a **** to change. Anyways, check the fluid in the master first and if it's dry, something's leaking. Dude that sold it to you probably knew about the problem and just filled the master when needed.
no the master wasnt dry just a little low i was thinking that there might be air in the system causing the clutch not to function. My other question is can the clutch not functioning cause the gears to get stuck like they are

Master cylinder's not that hard as long as you can twist your body enough to get under the dash.
Look for signs of moisture on the slave cylinder. You may have to pull back the dust boot to see it. I'd certainly bleed the system while you're at it just to make sure there is no air in there.
There is a ten cent plastic bushing at the joint between the clutch pedal and the master cylinder. How's that little devil? Mine popped a few years ago, and I couldn't get the clutch to release unless I stood on the pedal. It did have pressure, but not for the first several inches.
thanks for all the advice to the one who asked how the pedal feels it just goes straight to the floor no resistance what-so-ever

Sounds severe...either your pedal came off the linkage or you blew the hose or a seal in the MC. Of course, you'd lose all the fluid if you blew the hose and you said you still had fluid.
Sounds dumb, but did you actually take the cap off the master cylinder to look at the fluid? I mean, are you absolutely positive there is fluid in there and it's filled to the line?
Also, I know when mine went the Slave Cylinder was just so worn it got really hard to shift like yours. It's aluminum and eventually wears out. The only way to check/fix that is to get a new one.
The only other thing it could be is air in the system.
