It depends on at least the following:
How old you are.
How many drivers on your policy & their ages
How many vehicles you own
How many other policies do you carry from that company
Where you live
How much of a bad boy you've been in the past 36 months.

Check with 3 or 4 major companies to obtain competitive quotes.

No one can answer the question of whats the best & who's the least expensive because everyone's situation is different.

Why are you changing insurance companies?

In many states, your credit rating is an important factor with assessing your rates.

Also, if you have been with a company for a long time, you generate discounts that will not transfer.

I just moved to Los Angeles and brought my State Farm insurance with me, it was a bit pricier than say, Mercury, but the overall service and services offered are worth it (Mercury's idea of house rental insurance was a JOKE).

Well at the moment I am with Leland West and it is a joke. I can not drive the car any where and it be covered. I have a great credit score and no accidents. I just want to be able to drive the car at any time and any where! It is not a daily driver but there are times that I may want to drive it to work or what ever. All state was way too high and Leland was about half the pric. The insurance co tells you allot of things you cant do but very few that you can. I have only been with them for 1 year so no big deal. I just checked with Grundy and they said it was too new of a car so they will not cover it. It is a 96 with a LT4

"In many states, your credit rating is an important factor with assessing your rates."

Some states have outlawed that bull$hit practice, I guess not all of the politicians are in their (insurance companies) pockets.

Mr. P is right, it depends on an awful lot of factors, all of which he covered. I"ve had tremendous service from State Farm in four states. I know ONE company that I wouldn't go with and it's something "g" to start with. In one of those expensive states, I have heard that the three best are AAA's, Farmers and State Farm. It's your money so I understand if you want the least cost per year. I wanted full replacement value and no drop if something happens. That's what I got with State Farm. (and no, I don't work for them and never have)

I had state farm and then allstate they were charging me around $900 a year as a recreational vehicle with no guaranteed replacement so i like the the 215.50 a year no mileage restriction and guaranteed 19k replacement. state farm or allstate will not insure with agreed value no mileage restriction for less than $20 a month

I hadn't heard about this company. They look pretty good so far. I'm going to do some more reading, but I may be switching to them soon.

Thanks for the tip!

I have Esurance for my 92. Pretty cheap (480.00 year) but they charge you for just about everything. I made a phone call to them telling them there was an error on the VIN number on my ID card and they charged me 3.00.

I'm with American Collectors. They have one of the lowest prices around. And I checked many companies. There are a few stipulations. You must have another car that you use as your DD. And you are limited on mileage. If you will be under 5,000 a year, you'll have no problem. Here's a link to their site and you can get an on-line quote.

Any of the major carriers should offer the same in terms of Coverage with few, if any variations in policy language. State Farm has an excellent service reputation (well, except for a little business about using aftermarket fenders in lieu of OEM on repairs - but that was settled for 32 mil or there abouts), largely because their Agents have the authority or wherewithal to make sure the nickel and dime stuff is paid for. You can get an online quote from Progressive. I'm with the Auto Club and pay $500/year for the Vette with $500 Deductibles, but they also have my other 2 cars, the homestead and throw in a few other discounts based on vehicle equipment, profession as well as where I live. I also live in a State where if an insurance company burps, the legal profession drags them into Court and generally makes the Underwriters, Actuarys, Claims Professionals (and at least 1 or 2 CEO's) feel some pain, so you seem to fair a tad better - at least on the auto side - when you have a claim.

so..they are covering you for agreed value?? If it is "stated amount" its not what you think. All "stated amount" is a way for them to charge you based on the stated amount. In the event of a total loss they would still pay actual cash value...not replacement. Agreed value is what you want.

Not everyone is eligible - just current and former military. I wasn't ever in the service, but had my first policy as a dependent of my dad. Lucky for me they let you stay once you're in.
