This past weekend my wife and I took the yellow beast for its first road trip since the winter mod project was completed. We travelled around 700 miles and the computer showed a 22.5 mpg average with the top down and the air conditioner on. The car ran good and sounded awesome with the LT headers, hi-flow cat and Flowmasters. The only problem was a slight oil leak coming from the grommets installed in the valve covers. I quess after 15 years they have a right to leak. A quick trip to the GM parts counter will solve that though.
I thought I would post a positive experience since most of what you read about are problems. This evening I uncovered the car, sat on the door sill and started it in the garage just to hear the cam lope. The wife doesn't understand but I know some of you do.

My next project is the transmission cooler and shift kit. But not until later as I want to get a little seat time before I start work again. I have 3.07 gears and have no idea what the car runs in the 1/4 mile. I am still trying my hand at tuning so I know there must be hp still on the table. I'll post times if/when I get to the track. I am hoping for mid to high 12's.

Take care.

I used to do this in my '69 convertible. It had a cam/headers/3" with flows. I miss that car
