One small detail I saw on a TPI recently was with the exhaust manifold heat shield. The guy pulled it off and went over it with steel wool in one direction. I was surprised at how this small detail jumped out. It wasn't "bling." it just looked very detailed and clean.
If I had a heat shield on my exhaust, I wouldn't think twice about doing this.
Thanks for all the great comments. I didn't clearcoat anything since these are after market valve covers. I do however plan on refinishing the stock aluminum ones and then putting them back on. I'll try the tip about the heat shield. I was trying to figure out what to do to it to make it look better without buying a new one. Again thanks.
