the inside of my 95 has sort of a plastic laminate over the console..I am sure when it was new it was great looking but time and wear have taken a toll..it is peeling in some spots..can I just peel this junk off?..it looks great underneath Or am I in for a real pain of a job that will never come completely off?
It will be a pain.2 solutions buy the OEM trim piece or get an after market laminated set look at my pics for an aluminum one there are others carbon fiber, wood etc
I don't think you will ever get it all off without scaring some parts of whats under it. They do sell some paint to redo it though. You can strip the trim and sand and prep it, then take the paint and repaint it. I don't know how well it holds up though and I don't know where to buy it either.
I actually bought some stuff at lowes thats pretty close....4 bucks a can....Its a matte black rubberized finish>>>cant recall the name...But they sell it in a rattle can and it has a picture of a pair of pliers showing that you could use it to spray rubber handles onto pliers with it...LOL... Ill try to post a pic of a piece I resprayed with it next to a stocker later on..
i purchased a second console part on ebay for a couple of bucks, removed the dulso crap, (rubber finish), and had it painted a real nice flat black. looks excellent and i don't have to every worry about that stuff peeling anymore.
