94 blk/blk coupe.. 35,000 miles. Chevy dealer quoted me 250.00 to service the automatic transmission.. Doesnt this seem high even for a dealer? Question #2 What type of freon does the 94 use. Ive heard there is a label under the hood telling which type, where is the label. The A/C still works but not as cold as I would like. Are the kits from autozone/schucks easy to use...? Thanks
For a complete trans flush and filter change figure around $100 (if you use non synthetic fluid).
I believe you use R134 in your A/C, I think the change over year was 1993.
bogus and ronr, '03 was def transition year. had new '93 and altho it had new 134, it also had label and special instructions that if ever reqd. by law, switchover would be done for free by chev. ronr, you're ok.
Found the label under the hood. It is 134a type freon. Anyone use the kit from Autozone or a similar store?????
Used it on my buick, very easy once I found and cleaned the quick connector. Weird thing was the can said to hold it right-side-up, but it didn't work that way, worked great once I upside-downed it. Instructions are easy. Bought the kit with the pressure gauge, it can take 3 cans for a full recharge, you'll probably just need one (the sticker says how much total).
