I found a pen hole leak in my fuel line up by the engine, in the flex section that goes from the chassis to the engine. I hadn't had any luck finding one to purchase so I talked wth my mechanic and he talked about putting a flair on the line and replacing the hose, but after getting the line off of the car he doesn't think that there is room on the line to flair it. So what I need to know is, has anyone had to repair their fuel line there and what did you do? Also, any suggestions as to where I might look to find one. I'll even take a used on right now to have a spare so my mechanic will feel better about cutting up my current one.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, even more so by my wife.
I'm wondering as well. I've heard of horror stories of a hose failure and engine fires. Rumor has it you can have a hyd. type / compression fitting installed and then just replace hoes as needed. Someone may chime in that has done this.
Thanks for the suggestion, its just that the engine side doesn't have a straight stretch that is long enough to use a compression fitting, or put flairs in where we need to hook on at.
What we are doing now is trying to see if anyone around here will do the clamps like the oem ones that are on there now. If that doesn't pan out, going to look into putting a flair on the chassis side of the line and just running some type flex hosing all the way up to the fuel rail, or see if we can have a new solid piece bent for the engine side with the flairs put on before they bend the line.
We did find a source for used lines, $100 a piece for each line.
