Default tire combo?

I am planning to run on front 275/40/17, rear 285/40/18. The rim size is 17 x 8.5 + 58mm and the rear is 18 x 9.5 +65. The vette is a 95 coupe. Wheel this work and look good? Thanks guys

Since your stocks were 255s you may see a little bulge up front.

It might be better to run 9.5" wheels up front too so you could go with 285s around. Then you could easily rotate tires front/rear to extend tire life and you would get better handling overall.

I run stock 275s around and don't notice the dreaded "tracking" on grooved highway sections.

I agree with this. 275's on an 8.5" wide rim may not give you any advantage.
If you are going to do it, do it right.

As the others have stated do not put a 275/40 on the 17x8.5" rim. Either upgrade to a 17x9.5" or stick with a 255/45 tire. It seems like you're using C5 rims so upgrading to a 17x9.5" is probably out of the question. Out back a 285/40/18 tire will be too tall. A better choice will be a 285/35/18. This way your speedometer will remain accurate and you wont hurt your acceleration.

I would agree with this... but he noted that he is adding 18's in the rear so rotation for additional life is already out the window. What rims are you going with? C5 wheels perhaps?
