who has done it on an early c4 tpi and what was involved as far as the ecm, dash (guages) and distibutor?
btw....hello everyone.
lots of new faces around here today...and some old ones too
Sure, the ECM is still in the car.(Obviously the check engine light is on, I'll have to remove it) The only guages that don't work are the mpg ones. I put in a billet MSD distributor(not hard). The motor has extensive mods to it. I had to put a TC lockup kit in the tranny.
I'm not trying to be secretive, happy to share my experience,. What do you have in mind?
Here's a pic of mine. I put the air pump eliminator on last night, finishing up the nitrous install this week.
all I can say is HELL YES! I see about 400rwhp NA! Did you have to cut your hood up for that intake/carb...cuz that doesn't exactly look like a Weiand Stealth (Last I heard, that was the only one that'd clear a stock intake)
Timspeed,
Yes, to make room for the aircleaner I had to put a scoop on the hood. I've heard some people don't care for the hood scoop I used because it makes it look like an F body(to each his own, I respect that). After much research I only found 2 options that looked remotely good. The one I used(greenwood) and the toledo pro.
Nincompoop, here is a view of the things we discussed:
Probably the same way everyone here does.....$20 and a case of Budweiser goes a long way....
I'm not a big fan of ditching EFI for a carb, but these are some great looking conversions. Plus it's cool to see someone do something different with their car.
AZC4, your hood scoop is very nicely done. Yes, it does resemble the F body with the twin nostrils in the front, but I think that's a good thing. Gives it a very aggressive look from the front.

That wont work here, one look under the hood and your out.
That would be an off road only car with no plate on it.
It won't pass smog. There are areas of the State that do not have smog requirements. When my emissions comes due in 18 months, I'll get an address(drop box) in one of those areas. Either that or I'll register it at our house in Northern Wisconsin.(no smog requirements)

If you have Wisconsin plates you have a certain amount of time to register it in AZ, been there its a vicious circle. If you do that you'll need to keep a Wisconsin drivers license, also theres the insurance problem. If you can use a PO box in your home state to register your car in a no smog area it would be a better way to go.
