Default Question

i don't see many guy's having dark tint installed on the back windows - is there a reason for this? - it's not something that can't be removed & it sure helps keep the car cooler - or maybe allot of folks are having it done & i just haven't noticed them????

The curve of the glass makes it tough for some to install. However, Corvette Central sells a window tint for the back window that applies with static so its easily removable and its cut to the back window's contour. If you are thinking of tinting your back window, it may be worth a look.

I've seen a few, but you're right, not many. Me, I like it in the daytime and it does cool the car down. But I need all the night vision I can get to avoid curbs, and other cars. The other cars I refer to are the ones with one or fewer lights working which seem to drive up on your right side and hide there. As I said, it's just me; I like to see all that I can at night. I wish they made a window that could be dimmed like the mirrors.

Mine is tinted like the side glass. Have no idea what % but it is as dark as the local law allows. I suggest you have a pro do it if you go that route. Compound curves are not easy. Don't know about the static cling on the back but it works really well on the targa top.

I have used the statis cling type tint on my Explorer and my wife's Saturn and I have to say it works well. Stays put and its easy to take off if needed in an emergency, like when the cops pull you over. Best part about it is that its reuseable, you can re-apply it. When I get around to it, I plan to use on my back window to keep the interior cool.

Had mine not already been tinted when I bought the car, I would have done it. I like the way it adds to the sinister look of black. Plus I'm sure it must help in keeping the (black) interior temperature down. Which is a good thing considering I haven't fixed the A/C yet.......

I just bought my car 2 weeks ago. I typically despise any type of tint. I decided to take it off the sides but keep it on the back. Its not dark but i think it will help with the sun in regards to interior temp and discoloring my torch red carpet.

Mine is dark but by no means limo tint. All the way around 35% and it does help keep things cool.

Personally I love the tint. Bought the car like this but would've done it anyway.

The reason is that you can't see out the back at night, and when its raining and dark, youre screwed. Looking out the rear is pointless for the most part.

I have it, because here you have to.

I don't know what you figure that. My rear window has limo tint and I can see though it just fine at night. Same goes with rain (yeah we do get some crazy storms here in San Diego).

My '88 had tint when I got it (a CA car) and I love it.

Even though the hatch is dark I have no problem seeing out at night or in rain.

The only issue I've had is that when the hatch vent is in I can only see the gas filler lid in the rear view due to reflection.

My C4 is tinted on the sides and rear and there is quite a difference for me. Much cooler and less glare.

I live in South Florida, 80-90 deg. all year long and you need a good dark tint. I had all three windows dark tinted and looks and works great.

For the past twenty years I have had all my cars dark tinted, but in this state if you go too dark, you can get a ticket. Limo tint is a no-no.

Mine was tinted when I bought the car. I don't know the percentage of tint but it appears as dark as the bronze transparent top. At night I don't need to flip the rear view mirror to the night setting.
