Default A/C ????? 's

When it's hot outside and I turn my a/c on, it blows on hi thru the floor vents and the defroster vents for about 5 minutes. then it switches to the dash vents (on its on)......I thought this was a normal part of the automatic climate control until I rode in my son's 95 and realized he could control his all the time...... Is this a fuse thing somewhere, or the old yank the controls out and clean the contacts thing?????
Thanks for the help in advance....Lee

I am not sure but it sounds like you may have a vacuum leak probbaly under the dash some where!

it sounds like neither. The C68 dash controller is sending your selection to the system it is just not responding timely. It sounds like the underdash controller that is located above the steering column. It is part electronic and part vacuum operated. Check out this link for more info http://www.batee.com/corvette/acrepa...oard/c68.shtml

There is a purge function designed into the system that directs moisture laden air through the floor vents at startup and this keeps the windshield from fogging up. If you own a non-electronic a/c car, you may have experienced this windshield fogging, particularly if the humidity is high. Generally, it takes less than a minute for the a/c to dehumidify the air, at which point, the Programmer redirects air flow to the a/c vents. 5 minutes seems a little long, but I'd live with it. Otherwise, air flow in your vehicle is controlled by the Programmer and the delay function is built into it's processor. You could try another one, maybe used, to see if it improves. GM doesn't publish a spec on the length of the delay and as far as I know, it's a fixed interval. Of course some enterprising engineer may have made it a variable length of time based on the temp inputs from the inside and outside sensors - the literature just isn't that specific.
