Default How much for paint?

Need some help here. I'm shopping around for a paint job. Can you guys give me a range of what you've paid to get your Vette painted? Little or no body work needed. Thanks

Where do you live? What condition's the car in now? How good or bad a job do you want? How deep is your wallet? Who've you talked to already? What's been their quotes? What have you seen in their shops?

Krylon, cheaper than that............Seriously,good jobs start around $4500 and go up from there. Some here will tell you that you can get a paint job for around $2000.Well,its going to look like crap.If you plan on keeping the car, spend some money.Back in 2000 I was going to get my car painted with me doing all the disassembly and masking and it was going to cost me around $7000,which I was glad to pay.You get what you pay for.

A good painter knows it and won't give it away. I got a quote for 5k to do the '67 and at the time he was the only one who would take the car on. Needless to say, the d!@khead stripped the car down to the motor and ID tags, never saw a penny out of him. SHop #2-7k +"extras", which there have been a few of. Into this shop for over 9k now and it will be dicey to see if the shop stays open long enough to get it done. Should be getting sprayed this week..
Good work isn't cheap and cheap work is never good. Look around and talk to many shops before you decide;take a look at the cleanliness/organization of the shop. Does it look like half assembled cars have been sitting around for awhile, etc?Sob stories about customers not paying? Run from those! Good luck!

For a C4 the going price here is $8500 - $10,000 with a color change. For my C3 with very little glass work the price is $12,000 - $18,000.
I remember back in 1984 when I had my 75 Caprice Conv. stripped and painted for $4200, that was really high end then.

You big-city folks slay me. Get out in the boonies and look at some of the work done by the mom and pop shops.
Got mine done by a small shop who fixed all the rock chips/scrapes and redid the same color. Under 2K. When I found a spot on my mirror that had a small clear coat issue plus a new rock chip they fixed it for free. They also saved a quart for later just in case I need a future touchup.
I get compliments all the time. It is not show quality but looks real nice to me!

Much as I might not want to disagree with you, corvetteron, I'd have to say that prices are tending more toward artvette's way than not. Granted, the "cities" tend to have the higher prices, but....where do most people live? We'll see when kehler responds to this thread.

About two months and 6 grand. Two coats primer sealer, two coats base coat black, two coats House of Kolor Midnight Blue Pearl, two coats clear. All wet sanded and buffed until there wasn't any sign of orange peel. I went with a well known customizer and they repainted a few areas that I was dissatisfied with without blinking an eyelash (and that meant entire panels to ensure a perfect match). They also let me hang around the shop and watch what they were doing anytime I felt like it. Frankly, my job was one of the smaller ones they did - some of their megabuck rods were just insane - in fact one that they turned out won the 2002 Ridler award. The only drawback is that any damage (including the smallest of stone chips) requires an incredible effort to touchup.

Not to dis you or anything, but I'm sure your paint doesn't even come close to mine in looks and durability. Show quality doesn't come cheaply and you most definately get what you pay for. Sometimes saving a buck can bite you in the rear down the line. I hope not in your case.

I think paint prices depend entirely on where you live. Mine was done with light body work, 3 primer coats, color coat, and 3 clear coats for less then the price corvetteronw, suggested...

If a body shop in my area would give quotes near where some guys have said, he/she/they would be out of business very quickly, methinks

My paint is show quality, and if anyone requests pics, I think I have some.

Of course maybe my area just hasn't caught up with the rest of the country yet, prices could have gone up since I got mine painted. I haven't checked too recently, so maybe this is just some rambling

You can pay a lot for a ****ty job, or pay a lot for an expensive job. So who's price is high and who's is low?

I'm looking to get mine repainted depending on price, where I do the disassembly and masking myself. Will require reglassing on a door and rear quarterpanel, and stripping all the single stage crap off. If I can get that done for under $2500 I'll be a happy camper.

There is no way that can be correct. As the guy above me said...for $10k I can just go out and get another C4 in great condition, while still keeping the one I have. Same with 18k for C3s. I can get a FLEET of C3s for that price. Maybe I should drop out of college and open a body shop.

My neighbor had his front end done for 1500. I assume whole car would be around 3K.
