My odometer has stopped working. Everything else on my instrument cluster works fine. Can a mech. just fix my odo. or is my best plan of action just to replace mine with a working salvage odo.? Anything else I need to know? Thanks Guys.
Had a similar problem with my '85. I'd remove the Odometer and inspect it. On mine one of the axle hold downs had popped off and the gear motor wasn't engaging the axle with the indicator numbers.
I replaced mine but I could have fixed it if I had inspected it first.

Any tips on how to get to and inspect the odo.? I hear it's not the easiest job in the world. Thanks
I'm not familiar with the structure of the '89 dash. Hopefully someone who has been into a '89 dash will chime in.
As to the '85 it wasn't bad to get to, remove the dash panel over the digital dash, remove four bolts and two big connectors and pull out the digital dash, remove rear panel on digital dash and then remove 3 mounting screws for Odometer assembly.

Thanks Ryan, I called Houston Corvettes and the mech. there told me that 80% of the time simply replacing the odo. fixes this problem. I think I'm going to try that. I know where I can obtain a working odo for $50. We'll see what happens. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks again.
