Has anyone else ever tried to change the factory head-unit in a 96 car?It took me all of 6 days of having me car in shambles to get it all straightened out. Re-wiring the speakers, changing the speakers, taking out the god forbidden, cd demolishing changer, pulling out the factory headunit, re-installing the ISO headunit with the cheesy kits that have to be dremel'd to hell, pulling out the factory amp, and making the freaking power attenna work like its suppose to. I wanted to kill myself by the time it was all over. I reccomend that if your planning on changing the factory cd player for an aftermarket, pay the money for someone who knows what they are getting into to do it.
Only took me about 6 hours in my 94 to rewire the whole car with all new speakers, build boxes for the front so i could use 6 1/2. put in the head unit, wire two amps and install the sub hidden. Its not a job for a beginner but its not too tough, if you layout everything first and have a plan of attack, figure out which wires are which before hand everything should go smoothly.

it only took me a few hours too. I couldn't imagine how it could have taken 6 days.
I've done tons of other cars but for some reason my vette had my number. Everything little thing that could go wrong, or slow me down, happened. I didn't work on the car for 6 days straight, just bits and pieces here and there b/c this florida weather is terrible right now. I didn't have enough garage space, so that is part of the reason. Overall it took me 8ish hours to complete.
