This is stock L98 headers, down into twin 2.5 inch cats, into twin 2.5 inch pipes with balance pipe and DynoMAX 2.5 inch straight through mufflers. Was all done custom though, not a pre-fabricated system.
I have plans to change my exhaust system in the spring. I'm leaning toward Corsa, but I'm also looking at a B&B system. I noticed they have a 3 inch system. I think from what I've read B&B is louder than Corsa and if I went with the 3 inch it would probably be louder than what I'm looking for. Is the stock pipe size on a '93 2.5"? If it is I'm thinking I would probably lose too much backpressure and low end torque. An yinput would be appreciated.
If at all possible, try to mooch a ride in cars that are as close to identical to yours as you can find, one with the Corsa and one with the B&B -- and see which you like better.
I have the B&B 3-inch on my '94 6-speed w/345 gears. My car is otherwise stock mechanically (has the original manifolds and cats, stock cam/heads, etc). I love everything about the B&B except for the resonance that occurs from just off idle to just below 2k RPM. The resonance in that range is really strong, and will flat wear you out if you try to cruise in that range. I've learned to avoid cruising below ~2k RPM to prevent this.
I've heard (but can't confirm) that B&B made a change to the system at some point in its production life, and that the newer system has less resonance -- but confirm this with B&B before you buy, if you care about the resonance.
A Forum member posted a very clever roll-your-own solution to the resonance on the B&B system, but I haven't tried it myself -- you can find it here:
