Default Another exhaust question

I have plans to change my exhaust system in the spring. I'm leaning toward Corsa, but I'm also looking at a B&B system. I noticed they have a 3 inch system. I think from what I've read B&B is louder than Corsa and if I went with the 3 inch it would probably be louder than what I'm looking for. Is the stock pipe size on a '93 2.5"? If it is I'm thinking I would probably lose too much backpressure and low end torque. An yinput would be appreciated.

I don't "louder" is the right description, it's just a little different. I have the 3" B&B on my '93 with LT headers and RT cats. If you have stock gears (2.59 or 3.07), the resonance of the B&B may drive your passengers insane at lower RPM's. I have 3.54's and a high-stall converter, so I'm seldom in that range. Plus, with a bigger cam, it sounds mean. I wouldn't worry about back-pressure. On the other hand, most people here, prefer the Corsa. Try to listen and ride with other Corvette owners and see what you think. Both are nice systems.

Judging from the one time I heard B&B from the outside, I wouldn't say it's that much louder than Corsa. I would say it's deeper, though.

I have 3.45's with the 6 speed. How would the resonance be with these gears.

Glad you're asking these questions. I want to do my exhaust in the Spring, too. There seem to be many choices. Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Corsa, Borla; I'd be interested in hearing what anyone has and what they like/dislike with the system. I don't want something obnoxiously loud, just a bit more throaty than stock. I also want 4 round outlets instead of the stock rectanglulars.
Recommendations? What should I avoid?

If you don't like loud stay away from long tube headers

Hay Lefty I really recommend some time before you buy to check out Admiral1 if your staying stock he has Corsa and they look and sound great. My self and Minnesota White have Corsa with TPIS long tubes and no cats they sound great also but completely different than Admiral1's car. I have only listened to B&B from the out side they sounded good to me. I have heard time and time again about the bad raisonance problem in the cockpit.

Sounds good to me. I won't be doing anything over the winter, but maybe I'll catch a Spring outing. . . and get to hear Admiral1's and yours! I hate getting resonance in the cockpit.

Where's Lester Prairie relative to St. Paul? In the summer I cruise between Woodbury, St. Paul, North St. Paul and Lakeville on most weekend nights and would be happy to meet up sometime to give you a first-hand experience.

redvette6spd is right, though - his car and my car sound much different! And I want mine to sound like his...I rode in it and even with TPIS long tubes and no cats there is no reasonance problem. Gotta thank Corsa for that.

Lester Prairie is way out west. About 30 miles west of Minnetonka. But my kids are in Lakeville, so I'm out that way from time to time. Based on what I'm reading from you and others, Corsa sounds like the way to go. Did you put the system in yourself or did you have it done, and if so, where?
I look forward to meeting up with you guys sometime. . .after a long winter a cruise out toward St. Paul won't seem far at all!

I just installed the B&B system on the Z. It sounds great and I can feel the difference in performance. I would go through Mid America for the system though. I wouldn't recommend going straight through B&B. Their customer service sucks! I ordered mine in Sept. They told me it would be done on a friday two weeks after I ordered it. I called on Labor day (following Monday) and they told me it wouldn't be finished until that Wednesday. They wouldn't even discount it for being late. He said for a ZR-1 exhaust, three extra days was good. I get a call That Tuesday, they said it was finished but, they are having a problem with my credit card. They insinuated that I didn't have the money to pay for it. I got a hold of my credit card comp. and they contacted B&B to give them a comformation number. I then get a call from B&B saying it would be at my house Friday. Friday comes and no exhaust. I then call them and the mngr. said according to his computer, it wasn't even finished yet. He said he would research it and get back with me. I never understood what happened but, they paid for the shipping and it was finished. Sounds like they were at least trying, yes? Well, not quite. When I paid for the shipping they were going to use UPS for two day shipping. I was trying to get ready for a car show so, I needed it quick. Well, when they offered to pay the shipping, they used Fed ex. B&B is located in Pheonix, while I am in New Mexico. Did you know that Fed ex has to go to Tenn. no matter where you order it from. I do now! My shipment was delayed agian due to wheather in Tenn. This whole time they acted like I was putting them out and that my buisness was not worth the hassle. You know, instead, save yourself the hassle, buy another exhaust system.

I have a 92 LT1 with shortie headers and the OEM cats. I installed the B&B catback, 3", and was very impressed with the quality, except for the clamps. I broke several of them trying to seal the connections. B&B was very fast in replacing them at no charge. I bought my system through Rick Anthony Motorsports (here on the forum) for a nice price. If I had it to do over, I'd have bought the X-pipe instead of the resonator as my set up was too quiet for me. The B&B is very quiet at idle, almost stock, but much deeper. At highway speeds (70 ish) it has a nice hum which doesn't bother me at all. As compared to the Corsa, it is deeper in sound throughout the power range. Not much difference in volume. I welded my connections once I had it adjusted correctly that way it is not going to move. The most fun I had with sound was using a stock catback with an H/X pipe and muffler eliminators, nice and raspy.

The system goes on pretty easy, if you have access to a lift great. But you can do it on jack stands, you need to get the car up about 18" and an extra set of hands is really nice.

Not true on my car... I have the Corsa catback, Exotic Muscle longtubes, and Random Tech cats. My car's sound hardly changed at all at idle after the addition of the headers, and there is no noticeable sound difference at hwy. cruise speeds. At WOT, it screams, but if you don't want loud, you don't want WOT with any aftermarket exhuast, headers or not.
