Default Aboatman - Boatguy. WTF?

Just last week I got foncused between the two of you. What's the significance of the names? I used to be a boat man and a boat guy but the cost of burning up 60 gal of premium every time I went out to race other hot boats on Lake Michigan drove me back to the less expensive hobby of Corvettes. I also took a $10,000 hit in 1994 dollars after 4 years of ownership. I do have to admit that flying over the waves with the big block's straight thru exhaust relieved a lot of stress!
You both own verts with hardtops too. What's up with that?

I am a BOAT GUY! The Navy came up with the name Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewman a few years ago, however, we are still Boatguys! For more info do a google search.

I am still a boatguy, however, I am on STAFF duty.

Both craft use water jet propulsion.
The MKV (The 81 footer") has twin MTU 12V396 TE94 Diesels good for around 2,300 HP each.
The 11M Rib (Inflatable boat) has twin 6 cylinder cats (3126s) good for around 470HP each.

Not to get off topic ... but you might be interested in this boat. We build them. This little 44' is powered by 2 Detroit Diesels putting out 825 BHP to 2 Rolls-Royce waterjets. top speed >40 knots. While we put the gun mounts fore & aft ... we are not allowed to test them LOL.

In these two photos the boat is undergoing our self-righting rollover test.

If you're into this kind of boat check out our web site www.kvichak.com

Default Boatman - Aboatguy

Boatman here. I use Grady White boats. Did the military stuff years ago in the USN. Yep, Corvettes too. Had many, presently in a very, very nice one owner 16K mile 1990 ZR1, black/black.
The red 89R just got a new owner.

Building a custom home next year up by Gainesville. Big garage with lift right beside it. Plans on garage show living quarters. Does that mean anything? We do get a lot of company, but also a place to drink some suds with some friends and not bother the other halves.
When that is done, I will get into my last, and I mean last in this lifetime Corvette.
Red ZO6. That is it. Then maybe I will be Z-man or something like that. I will also leisurely restore a C3 roadster. Red of course.

Default Boatman and Boatguy

Ron, in addition, both of these guys are "Vert with removable hardtop" guys, therefore the commonality. I am not an ex-Navy guy but have communicated with both of these guys and sold "Boatguy" a hardtop for his C-4, and even visited him this Spring to see how my 'child' ,(hardtop), was doing. Mike is a rarin'-to-go type of guy, and a gung-ho sailor. You and I have communicated on how to retrofit the hardtop to the pre-'89 models by fabricating brackets that mount at the seatbelt retainer bolts, remember? I see you have done just that and it looks great. Cheers!

Thanks - yes I used your tips and they helped a lot. I fabbed my side brackets up a little different than yours but they work great.

Hey Boatman

When you get your place built in gainesville, can I be one of your suds drinking, ZR-1 on the lift hanging out friends? I'll bring the suds!

Roger on that. I must be the wrong boatman for those other two guys talking. I bought a hardtop but it came from Illinois. I have not seen another Boatman on these forums. I am boatman on the ZR1 forum.

Cool on Gainesville. Going about 20 miles outside of that city. We have been looking at 3-5 acres. Getting serious this weekend on the deciding end. Gotta get away from the shore. Getting beat up too much down here. We had 5 hurricanes in NC. Came here, 2 last year and now Wilma this year. This house is 4.5 years old, metal roof and made out of concrete. 145 mph winds is fine.

Miller Lite and Michelob Ultra.
