I have one just like it...as you say "just to keep the dust off it". I also have a heavy duty Evolution III cover in case I know my Vette is going to be left outside when I go on a trip. Only problem is, they both take up a good chunk of room in the limited rear hatch space that we have, especially the EVO III cover.
I agree. I have one for keeping dust off of it. I don't carry it in the car though, just leave it stored in the garage.
I did use it once outside... my fuel pump had died, it was about to storm, and I couldn't get it in the garage... It was in the street in front of my house. My driveway is a STEEP uphill climb to the garage so there was no way I could push it. Since I had nothing else, I put that cover over it for whatever protection from the storm it could give. I tied it down pretty well through the grommets at the bottom and that was that. I was actually pretty impressed when i removed the cover the next day. There wasn't so much as a water spot! But i wou;dn't recommend one of those for routinely leaving it outside... If you wanted to do that, I'd get a nicer cover...
Speaking of car covers - and the Evo III was mentioned, would you feel secure storing your car outside under cover if you had no garage?
No garage, no choice. I definately wouldn't leave mine outside without some sort of cover..but maybe that's just me. As I said, If I know I'm not going to be under hard cover, I always take my EVO III with me. It's a small PITA to put it on and take off, wrap it up and stuff into the big pillow case, but it's piece of mind form me.
To directly answer your question; Yes, the EVO III is a good protectant. I think now they might even have an EVOLUTION IV out.

No garage, no choice. Prob with some covers, like mine, is that they only tie around the middle under the car. Strong winds rip mine off. USed a bungee on the back, wrapped it around the muffler. Works Ok. Wish I had a garage.
Thanks Guys, Garage, choice. Since my paint is a decent 5 footer, I'll go with the less expensive one just to keep the dust and kids finger prints off.
can these covers scratch the finish in the wind. Seeing as though I garage mine wi nd would not be a factor but I thought it was a good point to bring up

I'm stuck with outside parking for the winter. Would someone have a link to either the Evolution site or another that makes a good outside storage cover?
I'll pay a few extra bucks for something soft against the paint.
To answer your question, can't see anything really wrong with this cover and its price. No news on what it's made of but probably poly or nylon. The question is: is this just a dust cover? What happens if you drop something on your car or scrape along its side (with something like a suitcase or a cardboard box) and cause damage thru this cover because it doesn't really provide protection?
Evo 3, I've had a couple on outdoor cars. Holds up so-so re longevity. Had an Evo4 on outdoor car also--maybe a little better than Evo 3. Final outdoor car cover was a Noah; very good. Not quite as bulky as Evos, but not a lightweight either. Wolfe's seem to be Evo of some kind.
BTW, even with only center mounted eyelets, if you pull the cord underneath the car (the plastic wrapped cable with lock) and loop it around the hole on the side you're locking it, it will hold the car cover tight in the center. With a new or newer cover, this will hold in the front and rear and not allow it to balloon out (and off the car) in a strong wind. The front and rear have elastic, but that can be negated if air gets under it and the center portion is loose. (1)
As to scratching, none of the ones I've had scratch the car. The caveat is, of course, if you put a car cover on over a dirty car and it rubs around on it, it will scratch---not the fault of the cover itself.
I did get an older (and used by two prior owners) what looks like an Evo 3 for the LT4, and it's now on my car, in the garage. Can't hurt it.
(1) and if that isn't enough or too hard to do, the Noah cover came with a string, just a plain string with instructions to tie it to one eyelet, stretch it across to the other and tie it tightly with a slip knot for easy removal. It works!
