Got 'er Done !!
My mods are: ported mini-ram matched to cnc full ported 190, 56cc AFR heads, ZZ9 cam, 1.6 pro mags, cloyes, air delete, 2149 w/true dual and X set-up (trans was already gone through ,beast, big bearings, wide band etc., etc.) and a few other things in the build that I just cant think of at the moment (no I dont have pics of my TB bypass I used an earls part there
) . Just wanted to let everyone here on theses boards that all the help I have recieved in the past, and posts I have read have paid off!!
So Thanks to all who have helped w/my build, IT WAS GREATLY APPRECCIATED!
The list is big but to name a few bogus, hippy, skatepark, jeff, sun, cc, cfi, corvette kidnc, TA, vader, these are the ones that come to mind if I forgot to mention anyone I appologize. AND YES, AS SOON AS I get a camera over here I will post pics (spent alot of time w/powder coat etc.) THATS ALL
It's quite satisfying to bring such a project to such a successful conclusion. Thank goodness for forums like this though. Without them it would be kind of like hitting a hole in one with no one watching.
Enjoy,

I bet that car is gonna scream when the season arises... make sure you take Hogan to the track and show him up

The only driving so far was to the end of the driveway
and that was tp get the wifes xmas stuff out of the attic in the garage. Weather here has been crazy fri, in the 20's yestreday 48 and pouring rain but they say all week in the 50's w/some sun, so I am definitly getting it out there. The one thing I try to be is thourough and that is one of the reasons, not to mention, a one man show, and it has been over 20 yrs. since I have done a build. The vette did present a few learning curves, and things like the recomendations at TPIS on valve lash, I did each one seperate w/an indicator at the lifter (to find the opening/ramp etc.) and then used the Comp Cams method of .030 (for pre-load) which by the way ended up to be exactly 3/4 turn. Things like that and degreeing the cam, took time but I felt it was better to know what I have. With that, all valves are quit and the motor sounds right, fires instantly smooth idle etc. (made me real happy).
Agent 86 forgot to mention you, sorry, I did use an AIR delete and no probs, and my first impressions of the new set-up is great! I think it should be making some reasonable power. The ZZ9 has a little lobe to it which I didn't quite expect, you can tell by that sound it has been modded. The only issue right now is the exhaust my pipes leaving the X can not be tightened any more (band clamps) and because I have only the original bracket on one side (pass) to support it the weight, the drivers side is trying to move the pipe/muffler assy. A friend of mine who does custom exhaust set-ups is going to have to weld those and a couple of tabs for the LT1 hangers in the back. All in all I guess something had to get done that is extra. I will be posting pics in the next day or so, and hopefully a little blast or so on the "track".
QUIK , I will give hogan a ride that's for sure, when are you getting back up this way?
Thanks Again Mick
quite honestly-I've only been there once on several builds. It almost made me nervous when it started right up and ran like a
it was supposed to.Nice job.
AS to the question at hand gave it a run yesterday put about 10 mi. on it ran great. I didn't give it a full thrashing but half throttle push from rolling, manually shifting, it had a very smooth power curve. No weird things, haven't been all the way down on it yet. At half throttle it is faster than the old set-up at full wood. I like the smooth power band of this combo. I also can see that I will be in the market for a 44 w/a 3.5-3.7 in it and I think my 285 rears aren't going to cut it.
I think the idle could have a little less lump to it, (the current TB has some motion in the shaft, doesnt search for idle) so some fine tunning, and I'll throw the 52 on it today or tommorrow, which would have already been on but I got it too late) but I hit the key and it fires instantly. All in all I am pleased with the set-up, I have a couple little things to fiddel with (exhaust like I mentioned earlier) swap out the break in lube, a real heat cycle to re-torque everything , at this point seems like all little stuff. I will hopefully be posting some shots later today...
89 sleeper I am ready now to tilt a couple

just curious is this on a stock bottom end? on a 350 which? and will u be getting it dyno tune? dynoed etc.....reason i ask is because i am going to be doing the same thing next year using the MR, but with diff heads, and diff cam.
is there a magic rwhp # that u are looking to achieve?

As to the recipe, when I first started looking at options I felt if I am going to spend $$$, I would like to see it come close to c.i. (350RWHP) w/a proven combination. I really don't know true no.s but I suspect I am close. (give or take).
To be totally honest I was waiting and waiting on a SR and couldn't get one. I was also a bit concerned about how many times I would have to repeat, to get it to seal properly. I always liked the LT-4 set-up and thought it was the the way to go for a street/track car. On weighing it all up I thought the mr w/the right combo, might be a better choice for me.
Myron, Ryan , (the engine builders) at TPIS claim the set-up at the crank should be about 420hp., depending on the math, 15 or 20% d.t loss it should be close. If I could refine the tune maybe another 5-10+? Like anything else, this is just bench racing ,w/no.s provided as an average at the crank from TPIS. the only real way is to strap her down.
What I can honestly say is I like the way it feels the power is smooth and clean. and as others have said I can see that this combo would like more gear, but believe me it isn't bad w/the 3.07 and while I may only be pushing it to 6k I think it might also et. pretty well...TIRES MIGHT BECOME AN ISSUE
Oh yeah my winter project...find a dana 44 w/gear set to install
YEP, it feels pretty good. I think it is just fine, I like tq. but I like it being blanced. I'm making more power across the board than before, and the power curve is cool, it is an even gain...me likes!!
As soon as hits around 2500 rpm it turns on very nicely!!
You will like this, first time I have ever seen a guy in a c-5 with his eyes looking like a deer being flashed , kept lookin the car up and down gave me the wave about 4 times
