Default Prestone Super Flush

OK. So I'm running Prestone Super Flush in my 94 vette. (2 days, then flushing out). I've heard not to use this stuff but its too late. Has anyone run a flushing agent in the cooling system and if so, had any problems. I've run it in other cars in the past and have never had issues. Its just that today I was reading the Chilton Handbook to find out how to flush and it warned not to use these products in these egines. GREAT! I hope I hear that some of you have used this stuff with no problems.

From one Rick to Another....I hope that you hear good news. I also considered using some of the Prestone Super Flush recently as I need to do a Flush and Fill also. Now I know better and will not.

I would guess that you probably are OK and have not damaged anything....just get that stuff out of there and fill r' up.

Thanks Rick. It's been removed. I'll run her tonight with plain water and thoroughly flush it out again tomorrow and fill it with anti-freeze.

Used it in my 89 a few years back and used the Prestone flush kit. No problems yet...................
Don't know about leaving it in there for 2 days though; I only had mine in for about the 30 min. it took me to drive to work where I did the dump and flush routine.

I need to ask more about Prestone Super Flush cause I'm planning on flushing my system this weekend:

Why is Prestone Super Flush bad for the system?

I need to be enlightened. Used it before on other non-GM cars, my 96 Vet is my first GM.

I was told by my Corvette mechanic, not to use any of that stuff. Just flush it a few times with distilled water, then add your antifreeze and maybe some Water-Wetter. I don't know why, I've done it with all of older cars - maybe it has something to do with aluminum heads.

Meh. I think these mechanics are FOS. The only thing a flush could do is uncover a leak that was about to happen anyway. Not the product's fault. JMO.

You may be right. But I have a new radiator, hoses, water pump. Is there anything corrosive in the flush product? Like I said, I've used it in other vehicles I've owned with no problem, I just wondered is there is something different about an LT1 that may cause a problem.
