dumb odometer question
This question is for the 90-96 digital style odometers.
If you were to push your Vette for a mile, with the ignition off, would it add that mile to the odometer?

Aren't the mileage sensors in the trans? That said, maybe if the engine's off and the trans is in neutral, it wouldn't register as having been moved???
I'm all ears.

Depending on the answer I may start shutting my car off while coasting down hills.

NO
I have a 50% chance of being right.
Now how many miles do you put on doing a dyno pull?

If I'm not mistaken, I recall on one of my trucks, driving in reverse added to the odometer instead of subtracting. I think as long as the driveshaft is moving it will calculate, but I never tried with the ignition off. But I beg to ask, what's the big deal? None of our cars are under warranty anymore, so keeping it below 36,000 shouldn't be an issue anymore.

I call
As long as the back tires/wheels turn and the drive shaft is connected, it will register.
I also have a 50% chance of being right.

It will, and yes driving in reverse also adds to it, and also interestingly the speedometer registers and displays your speed while backing up.. So now the question is how fast can you go in reverse?

Register, yes. Ignition off - no! Without power to the ccm, you aren't going to add any miles to the odometer!

And what stores the odometer,,, the dash,,, or the ccm?
The 94 I just bought has some stains on the display. I was looking at dashes on ebay, but was concerned about odometer discrepencies.
The seller is trying to tell me plugging in any dash will display the mileage of the car.
