Default Mouse Progress Report...

A while back there was a thread re mice and how to keep them out of the car, and I thought I would share some results so far.

I opted for the dryer (Bounce) sheets and using One Bite bait in some hide-away corners in the garge, and can report that it has almost entirely ridded me of mouse problems in my '95 coupe, and I can detect no problems in my fiance's 69 Stingray.

There was some early activity on the baits last fall - some dead mice found scattered around the garage and one dead RAT but it seems the dryer sheets (especially) is working pretty well!

I have about 6-8 spread over the seats, floor and "way back", and one under each fuel rail cover and a few tucked in around the wiring near the firewall. Apparently there was a mouse that brought his lunch and ate it on top of my TB, but other than a few seed pod husks, there was no evidence of urine or turds. Best of all, there wasn't a hint of smell anywhere in the car...except for the dryer sheets, of course! This is a FAR CRY from what I have experienced in years past (living out in the country as I am).

I'll keep ya posted. So far the dryer sheets/One Bite (forget that Decon crap) seems to be doing the job. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

This is a great follow up thread. I would have never thought Bounce would work. Glad to hear that you got the problem fixed. Think about how much money you saved with not having to replace parts. :lol

I've been using moth ***** after my experience last year. The mice stuffed the void between the intake and the runners with insulation. They were nice and warm........cost $170. Since that time I loaded three socks with moth ***** and place them on the wipers each night. Use DECON in the garage itself and spread some mothballs in the corners of the garage as well. But, it's starting to smell like my grandmother's closet so I'm switching to BOUNCE too!

Just so I understand, you place a few Bounce sheets around and what, the mice eat them and die? Or the mice just don't come around cuz they don't like Bounce? I've got a couple of the critters in the hot water heater closet. I got one with a mouse trap but so far, the others are too smart to go for the bait. Maybe I can "Bounce" them.

I don't know exactly know why it works. In all the years I've used the dryer sheets I've only seen 2 of them actually chewed on. I put the darn things all over... cars, boat, power equipment etc. Have'nt had critter problems in years.

It would appear they are repelled by the Bounce sheet odor(?). I tuck a couple between the seats and the counsole and between the seats and the doors, a couple on the floor mats, a couple in the luggage area, and scatter 6 or so under the fuel rail covers, the firewall wiring, etc., and around the TB and on top of the intake maniflold.

Also, just in case, I have a brick of One Bite in both Vettes. The bait serves two purposes: 1) Any crumbs or knawing will indicate activity, and 2) it will be the "last supper" for whomever did the knawing!! (Decon...they eat that stuff like candy. I would turquoise turds all over the place, but the volume of the droppings nor the amount of bait consumed would not change - indicating (to me) that bait is not effective in ridding me of mice or even maintaining a constant level. Who wants that? Now, One Bite...That is an entirely different animal!)

So far, so good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I've used dryer sheets for years and have had no problems with mice or critters and my vette was stored in a pole barn out in the country for 4 seasons. I remember my mom would do this too when I was a kid in our basement in a 120 year old house and we never had mice.

"It would appear they are repelled by the Bounce sheet odor(?). I tuck a couple betwee..."pw

Man, I'll agree to that--I'm repelled by the smell of Bounce sheets! But then again, if it "bounces" out those critters the way you say it does, heck, I'm not wearing the damned mice. I'm gonna go do it, too.

Glad to hear it works and thanks much for the update.

HELP! BTW never heard of One Bite. Only see Decon at Home Depot. Where do you find/get One Bite? Thx.

The best control for mice , rats , moles and gophers is ex-lax. Needless to say , I don't need to explain why. They love it. Have used it for years here at my golf course.
