Default crashed her

There has been some decent weather here recently; the snow has melted, the rain has washed the salt and sand away, and there was snow in the forecast for tomorrow (new years eve), so what better time to take her out for a little blast. I'm heading down 95 towards the downtown area, and traffic is crawling due to some event. I'm enjoying the music, the rumble of the exhaust, etc., when all of the sudden I turn my head just in time to see the wheel on the cab of a trailer truck come crashing through my door. Of course, it continues down the side, taking the rear tire off. The nitwit must have not taken enough greenies to stay awake, and dozed off in traffic, drifting into my just shined vette. The driver was all over himself apologizing, etc. Of course, when the troopers arrived, his tune changed, and he was telling the trooper that the "dude in the sports car" zoomed in front of him. Kind of hard to zoom in bumper to bumper, but it will probably end up with a he said he said type thing, since no one stopped. My heart is broken at the thought of the damage. I have to visit her at the body shop today, and I just wanted to know if I should be looking to ask or watch for anything during the repair. I know the owner, and they are one of the largest and best places around, but I'm still worried she will never be the same. I know I'm not....................

That IS AWFUL!. Glad you're ok. Don't know what you mean by things you should ask for, but probably if it took off his ((I'm assuming that's what you meant) rear tire off his truck wheel, it's a pretty big impact.

If on the other hand, it's your rear tire that it took off, that's a different story. Now, you've got things under the car that definitely need to be looked at.

Since this is a good, reputable and well-experienced shop (all of those words are assumptions that you agree with, right?), they will probably know what to look for and what needs fixing. I'm hoping nothing rolled under the car and caused damage to things other than the side of your car, which is serious enough.

Send us some pics, as awful as this is. And take it easy for a while. Your mind is still in "crisis mode", even if you're physically ok. Oh and make sure you understand the method they're going to use as well as the products for re-painting. You don't want peeling paint on the fresh stuff two years down the road.

I know how you feel, I had an accident in October on my 85, the more I think about it, I am just glad I wasn't hurt, nor my passenger. You too will thank God over and over.... Trust me. As for the car, I missed it bad, real bad. Finally got it back 2 days before christmas. You will get over it the second you get it back.......trust me.

Did you get any names and contact information from witnesses? The blame game doesn't work if there are independent witnesses. Sorry to hear about your car and I hope that everything works out.

Find the
THIS SUCKS " thread,,,my 94 was hit Tuesday by a semi as well,,,, spun me into a mini van and another semi.

I dont think its repairable. It hit 50 that day and the streets were dry so I thought id sneak out for a cruise. I made it 7 miles from my shop.

I hope yours is repairable and is the same as before the accident.

It tokk me 2 years to find the perfect " for me " car so it may take awhile to replace mine.

AT leats we are ok.

Glad to hear that you are ok, the car can be fixed or replaced but I know its still a pain. I know how you feel I had a car that had to be fixed once and it was never the same to me. I would be talking to the ins company about all your back and neck pain though. I think that they should be making a cash deposit into your new C5 fund. Good luck hope it turns out well for you.

Glad you're ok. I had an old guy in a Caddy change lanes into me. He hit my right front with his left rear and tried to blame it on me. Since there were no witnesses who stopped, each of us had to pay our deductable.

Yeah, the guy in the itty bitty sports car didn't see the 18-wheeler in his blindspot.

What an ***. I'm gonna bring a tape recorder with me from now on.

Or why not just get what he deserves and nothing more? A fixed/replacement C4.

You opportunistic bastards make me sick, (and make insurance cost more.)

Glad your ok. I had almost the same thing happen about 8 years ago in moving traffic. A Mayflower moving truck changed lanes and the front lugs of the right front wheel went all the way down the drivers side of my car. I had to chase him down to get him to stop and he said he thought he might have blown a tire, but kept going. It took forever to get there insurance to cover the repairs on my civic . This idiot could have easily run completely over the top of my car. The state troopers were not sympathetic to him. He actually stated that he was just trying to stay behind the truck he was following because that guy did not have working tail lights. Needless to say I am very mindful of truck when they pass me or I pass them. I am sure that you will be too. Good luck getting the vette fixed.

What is it with people nowadays???? Nobody wants to take responsibility for their own stupidity or simple mistakes.

Glad your alright!
