i'm trying to change my turn signal switch and was wondering if i had to follow the manuals instructions as it says or is there any shortcuts or things not necessary. it says to disable the SIR system, which i have removed the fuse and the lower panel. it says to diconnect the connector position assurance (?) and yellow 2-way SIR connector at the base of the steering column, but i don't see these. does this have to be done. if so, some insight please.
I have done this, and it isn't hard... you see, the column is very stacked. This means you have one way in, and one way out.
as for removing the SIR, once you remove the airbag, the coil spring has to come off... then the wire has to be disconnected, and it should be under the knee bolster. It will have to be fed back down the column. A trick is to just loosen it and let the coil lay to the side.
