Default C4 Diff. remov

Happy New Year all !

For the past several weeks I have been attempting to remove the diff. on an 85 C4 to replace the mount bushings. I have removed almost everything form drive shaft, half shafts to sway bars. The Diff is supported only by two bolts now.

I have a jack under the diff and when I attempt to lower it, I can’t seem to get it past the support beam from the trans to the diff. I have tried everything…..

Anyone ever remove their diff?

Any advice or pics would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

If you have the driveshaft removed and the support beam pushed to the side as much as you can, you should be able to remove the support beam. It's a knuckle bleeder. If not, than lower the rear diff and try to wiggle the diff out of the beam pocket...

Hello

Thanks for the reply

I have removed the 2 bolts attaching the support beam to the diff.

I have not even attempted to remove the 2 bolts attaching the front of the support beam to the trans.

Do I need to do this to push the support beam as far right as possbile?

Cheers

Yes. Also, you're not saving any time by leaving the cbeam and driveshaft in there.

Yes, removing the bolts at the trans and getting the C beam and driveshaft the hell out of the way will make it much easier.

Getting the C-Beam and Drive shaft out of the way makes this an easy evolution.

Nope, During my D36 to D44 swap: I only removed the exhaust from the cat back and was just fine!

Unless your changing the sway bar bushings and its' end link bushings...you didn't need to remove the swar bar.

However the spring has to come out....you didn't mention that you pulled it out

Yeah, remove all the exhaust. You can't get to the front c-beam bolts otherwise.
