Falken Ziex ZE-512's at discounttire
Just thought I would let anyone know with 255/50R-16 tires that discounttire.com has them for $74 & they do not charge shipping.
$296 for a set of 4 is the cheapest I found ANY tires for this car.
Not only is it free shipping they got here in less than 3 days.
Just thought I would throw this out there. Incase anyone needed some cheap(but excellent) tires

I bought the Falkens for the Vette (275/40 x 17) and really like them. However I don't run mine as hard as some here. I then bought a set (from discount tire direct) for the wife's Volvo, so far I've been very happy with Falkens and would probably buy them again.

For once I actually agree with Kobbvette! I have Falkens on the 89 and they stick good. 2.0 60'time, wear well, etc. Stayed with a crotch rocket on a pretty tight windy road today and showed no signs of the tire going away, and I was drivign it pretty hard. Think they are a good bang for the buck if your car is a driver.

the 275/40/17's are $115 each......
tirerack has the Kumho ASX's for $111 each......
i wonder how these 2 all-season tires compare. the Falkens appear to be fairly solid. i also like that they have extra rim protection (my current Daytona ZR's do as well), which is a nice feature to avoid curb rash.

Ron, I think you're right. No hurry either, I've probably got 2 years left on the Daytonas
Interestingly enough, these Falkens are supposed ot be ultra new; and the tread pattern looks exactly like the (Dayton) Daytona ZR's that are on mine, and these have been out for at least 5 years now.
Edit: I see the tread pattern on the current Daytona ZR has been altered slightly, however the pattern on the ones that came with my vette is 99% idential to the new Falkens.

As long as they are inexpensive along with the good results I have been getting, I will continue to keep getting this brand of tires. Kinda like a Corvette - Best bang for the buck.

The tirerack.com Sumitomo HTR Z of comparable cost are only $78. BUT comsidering here to FL shipping is ATLEAST $80 then added sales tax. All that adds an additional $100+ to the cost( I can find ALOT better things to spend $100 on). For some beater tires that I am going to use to break in the car tirerack not worth it right now.
The only reason I chose discount is because of no sales tax & free shipping. I normally use tirerack for all my tire purchases( better customer service) but like I said, for something you are looking at selling, a daily beater, or if you just like them & they work well with your car, then they cannot be beat for this price.
I'll let you all know how well they hook, when I break in my CFDF clutch out front of the house( will have video too ).

I had the ZE-512 on my sons Cirrus and they were fine in dry and wet. I have a set going on my wife's 00 Monte this week. We'll see how they do on a larger car. Cost me $250 so it's not a bad experiment.
On my 92 coupe I'll be putting some Falken FK-451. Check them out at Discount Tire Direct. Same price in 275/40-17 as the ZE-512. The FK-451 is not all season. Dry/wet summer tire. Rumor has it that the last half of the tread on these is the same compound as the Azenis RT-215 all the Miata folks love. I've ridden in a base C5 coupe at autocross and he had pretty good grip with them.
Falken is not junk. Their Azenis have been kicking *** for quite some time on autocross courses on small imports (RT-215). Their new Azenis RT-615 also has bigger sizes and you can get 275/40-17.
Everyone seems to be so impressed with the Kumho MX for price/performance. I've had a set and wasn't as impressed as many people seem to be... I'll try the FS WO before another Kumho. Just another perspective.
