Removing Alternator bracket?

Has anyone been running without the alternator bracket that fits the the manifolds flanges?

Will it result in instant breakedown of the alternatator.....

You best fab up a new bracket as you will break the rest without it.

You need to fab one up as soon as possible, or the alternator will crack.

As of yet I've not found anyone who will make them and sell them.

If this is because of a header installation, I just did a little grinding and it fit just fine. The engineers put it there for a reason.

When I added headers to my '87, (I already had a chrome bracket for the rear of the alternator) We just added a spacer behind the alternator - it's about one inch long and then bolted the bracket to a factor hole above the headers. P.S. I'm also running a BPP air pump eliminator bracket as well. Still using factory serpentine belt. A friend of mine showed me his unique custom air pump eliminator bracket and he also has headers - he is not using the back bracket, he hasn't had any problems... YET!

Play it safe, buy a longer bolt and spacer...

I do not use the back bracket.... no problems.
