Still I'd be embarazzed to have a Macco, or Shieb job on anything I owned.
i have already used a local guy who specializes with painting mercedes benzes, jaguars, etc just for some "touch-up" work......he does an outstanding job at a fairly reasonable price......i've seen some of his work........he's a stickler with his own standards and is very professional.
i would never go to a chain outfit. never.

If you are not happy with your Paint now,why spend $500,and still be uh-happy? I wrote about my "saga" with Maaco, and the end result was they offered a basic free job to me,which I would't even take....... I am going to spend more, and find a small bump shop, where they work on one car at a time,a guy who has some pride in his work, and go with him!Good luck, and if you choose maaco,I hope it works out for you........
It will look like crap. I used to do bodywork/ paint. The last car I painted was a 70 G.T.O. I bought. The car was palisades green and I painted it cardinal red. Just the gallon of P.P.G red was $300.00 plus the reducer and hardener for the red. Then a gallon of clear and reducer and hardener for the clear. You then need sealer and tinting base for the sealer. A gallon of primer/ surfacer. You would spend $800.00 on just the paint materials. So Maaco painting an entire car for
that kind of money should tell you what kind of quality you'll be getting.
A roll of 2 inch 3m masking tape was $8.00 a roll last time I bought the stuff. 320 grit d.a. paper is 60.00 a box.

In other words, he paid them $500 to just spray the car.
Any body shop would have done the same thing for half the price.
I painted my motorcycle in the garage after removing all the parts to be painted, stripping them down to bare metal, covering everything with plastic sheeting, ect. I bought my own paint and supplies at a body shop supplier. It was the hardest job I ever tackled. I painted and stripped it 7 times before I was happy with it. I color sanded and buffed it out. It took forever. My wife was ready to leave me. I would never try to paint a whole car after this experience. Especially a fiberglass car. I can see why it costs so much for a quality job.
