Here is a Picture of my 88 with the C5 (97-99) wheels. I got them on Ebay for $125.00 for the set with center caps. I also got a used set of Good Year RunFlats for $125 bucks on Ebay. Just took my time and waited for a deal. My car is the same bright red as your 86 excpet I painted the moldings when I painted the car.
The only problem with the C5 Wagon wheels are that the 18" in the back make the rear sit a little to high, would go with 17" all round if I had to do it again, some drop the rear instead. 'still handles the same for me.
Mine's a late-C4 ('94), but this should give you a pretty good idea of what a C4 'vert can look like with Chromed Y2k C5 wheels on it. I have a few shots of a friend's yellow '87 'vert with chromed C6 rims on it, but I don't have them with me now. I'll try to remember to post a shot of his when I get home tonight.
The car is not flawless, but it's in damned good shape, and I'm always proud to show it. It turns a lot of heads, and gathers many favorable comments, and I think the wheels are a great deal of the reason for that. I've never been enthusiastic about the stock sawblades. These wheels really set the car off. Aside from the wheels and B&B exhaust (and the fact that it's mine! ), it's just another nice C4 ragtop.
