The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
And you can't blame me for nothin'... I told him to run from that pig!!!!
It looked great from 10', but the paint had been fixed on the horizontal surfaces and there were bubbles and bad orange peal.
Under hood, the engine had been pressure washed/steamed... not a good sign.
Inside, no keyfob, no top tool, no cold AC... (I forgot to tell him on the phone, but the drivers seat did not seem to go down far enough... it felt high in the back). the engine ran ok, but was a little softer than I would have expected from an LT4. It felt no more stronger than my 92 LT1... I don't think the F45 was hooked up, I didn't see any actuators on top of the shocks... but I don't know how the F45 looks... I have pics of the front shocks, tho. However, the shocks were black. There was a batch of relays all loose under the left headlite, and the left headlite wouldn't open (my guess? the relays were blocking it). The relays are the ones that attach to the side of the radiator housing.
The car also ran hot. It never did go down below 200... (I wanted to check the coolant, but couldn't, cause the engine was hot when I got there... odd...) My 92 barely goes over 200... and it's an essentially stock system, the only difference is the coolant mix and some water wetter... I bet money the coolant looked like sludge! Or the fans ain't working right. The battery was dead when I first tried to start it... which lead to a SYS message.... screw that. Oh, and the LTPWS threw a code. Lord knows what is up with that.
There was also this strange knocking sound from under the car, it was not engine related, nor was it transmission related... sounded like the exhaust was rattling.
Also, the drivers side door was not lined up to the fender worth a damn. There was a good 1/4" miss there.
There are 4 tires... the 2 rears are "Phantoms" whatever they are... the left front is a Dunlop, but it's the WRONG SIZE - a 235/45/17!!! The right front is ok... the left rear was balder than bald... damned near to being a may-pop.
Finally, the weatherstripping looked like crap.
I will post pics here... as soon as I find the cable to my card reader...
After I found all the other problems, I gave up... if it had passed the first round, then I would have asked to get it up in the air, but at this point, it was a waste of time.
