Default Quick question

Was the 96 LT4 available in the auto, or just the 6speed?

I've been looking for an LT4 coupe. However, they all seem to be a vert, or 6speed.

There have been a few conversions, not as hard as you would think, but it is doable.

As for learning on a vette, it isn't any different than learning on any other car.

You can buy an LT1 automatic and mod it so it has more HP than the LT4. I believe GM Performance Parts sells a LT4 kit that converts your LT1 over. Ain't cheap though.

I think you missed my point? In my mind, I can see myself improper shifting and ruining the clutch or something. Where I wouldn't mind in something less important and cheaper to repair.

Plus, easy or not to some, im not to interested in shifting all the time. I like to put a car in drive and go, not worrying about shifting ect... silly yeah, but it's the truth.

I also realize I could mod the vehicle or buy a kit but id like to keep the car original.

The only way you can ruin the clutch is by riding it. The first time you buck first gear, you'll never do it again.

I learned to drive with a stick, took my test on a stick, my work truck is a stick and one of my vettes is a stick. Love the manual shifting except for one thing. I can't get a remote starter for it.

People have their reasons for an automatic, the one that tops the list is just plain laziness. DOn't take that as me knocking anyone, I happen to be a very lazy person at times. But I enjoy driving so much and shifting my six speed gets my juices flowing.

And yes, I do own a couple automatics, main reason being one is for drag racing and teh other, well, try to buy a fully optioned pickup truck with a stick shift, they don't exist on the dealers lots.

Gauranteed when I buy my C6, it will be a stick shift.

Anyway, it isn't hard to learn to drive a stick shift, especially these vettes, they can take a beating, trust me on that!
