Default Sawblades

Were chrome sawblades an option on the 93' ? I have seen them in aluminum and chrome. I will be needing new sawblades in the near future because the chrome is in bad shape. Think I would like to stay with the chrome though.

No, chrome was not an option.

Default Thanks

My chrome sawblades must be aftermarket then. Sure makes me wonder how the chrome could get so bad in so few years. Maybe I better look at replacing with aluminum.

Environmental laws don't allow anyone in the USA to chrome the old fashioned way, that's why they only carry a three year warranty, some are less.

If you're looking for NOS sawblades....good luck. They aren't made anymore. You can always try and buy a used set off of a forum member. About five years ago the supply on the NOS sawblades started to dry up. At that time I decided to purchase 3 NOS rims while they were still available. Paid $400.00 each back then. Still don't understand why we can no longer purchase a rim that ran from '93 through '96 on thousands of cars.

Because very few people will buy them.

At $400 per, you can put on some nice aftermarket wheels and have some eye candy.

Your probobly right ,to me the sawblades are nicer looking on the C4 than any aftermarket rim.
Just curios,does anyone disagree?

I hear ya, Larry but at the time that wasn't the way I wanted to go. Three of the original sawblades had curb rash from a previous owner, so I wanted to replace them with NOS wheels that I knew I'd soon not be able to get at all. I'm not a purist per say, just wanted undamaged sawblades.

Five years later I am looking to remove the sawblades (still in excellent shape) from the car and put them away. Been waiting since last Nov. for Corvette Mike out in CA to get the C6 Z06 wheels in (alum. with a clear coat). Still waiting.......

I bought a set of used sawblades that came off a 96 to mount same size all around, plus drag radials. I plan to keep my sawblades forever, and I really do love the look of the later polished wheels on the 94-96.

I find the stock sawblades are an essential piece to a sleeper modded car. C5 owners just ignore my C4 with stock wheels, until I blow their doors off, then it's

I also find I'm in a distinct minority with a highy modded but stock looking car. Most C4 owners want the aftermarket look with wheels being the first change.

I understand your reasoning for wanting stock sawblades, and you are entirely justified in doing so.
You are, however, in the minority, as you know; most of us look for the tiniest excuse to purchase aftermarket wheels.

Not quite sure I understand. Can be a little thick at times ya know. From what I am reading the chrome sawblades I have on my 93 are not stock? 93 only offered polished aluminum? My chrome sawblades must have been an aftermarket wheel? Dang and I thought I was pure stock. Also sounds like I will be searching long and hard for a new set of chrome sawblades. Don't think I really want any other aftermarket wheels. Hmmm maybe a set of Crager SS wheels??? They still make them? Can remember when they were the cats meow on my SS Nova.

hmmm me wonder's now what my sawblades might be worth?

I like the silver painted ZR1 look which makes it appear like a CE only not silver but polo. It does look much more aggressive in CE wheels and a "sleeper" in sawblades.

My stock sawblades are in pretty decent shape, well after I clean the inside up.

I'm not certain of this, but I believe 94 was the first year for polished. I believe 93 were powder coated like 91-92.

Some chromed sawblades were original factory wheels taken back in exchange by wheel refinishers, then chromed. Some were aftermarket new wheels chromed. The factory never sold chromed sawblades.

Be careful. If you keep talking about sawblades, JB666 will have to put them on his car!

I have four full sets of sawblades of the 93-96 variety.

I have the original set off my '95, the original set of my bosse's '95 that I swapped the chrome one's for.

An almost mint set of sawblades from a '93 with the original GSC's(don't know if they are actually the original tires, but they are the correct tires).

A set of crappy fronts that were used for drag radials on a C5, the guy grinded away the fins on the inside to clear for the calipers. Itraded some Zaino for them, I might use them for my C4 trailer if I ever get around to building it.

I have a set of brand new rear wheels with drag radials on them that I will use on my '95 if I ever want to achieve the NCRS standard(yeah right!).

Then of course the black GS wheels for the '95 and the Weld wheels for the '93.

There are aftermarket companies that will take your stock sawblades in exchange for a chrome set (they will then strip and chrome your old ones and sell to the next guy). I think MidAmerica might even be a source for this. Try doing a google search.
