Will this universal AT shift **** found on ebay work on a 1993 ?

I doubt it.
The C4 shifter is held on with a spring ring inside the ****.
Remove the button and you will see it. That is what retains the shifter... I would also measure the shaft and see if this one would retrofit.

I haven't ordered the ****...trying to make sure fitment first. I thought maybe the plastic adapter piece and spring would replace the clip somehow 
Are there any other alternative styles for an automatic? I like the design of the one pictured(a little chrome/a little carbon fiber/black)...

no it will not work, already ordered it and already sent it back. the one in my car now is the fake carbon fiber one from ecklers, that one fits like a glove.
the ebay **** fits a little loose and the push button mechanism doesnt really work right, you can still put it in gear but you have to fully push the button in to make it work. i will post pics of the current shifter later.
