I was thinking about taking the mufflers off the car but don't know how it will sound. I know it will be louder but my question is how loud is it really and is there an problems with doing this.
If you search the forum you will find tons of posts regarding this. Many have taking off the mufflers and used muffler eliminators. Its not really that loud (to me) but it all depends on your taste. Alot of guys will chime in a share their setups i'm sure.
i took mine off for $50. just had them cut off and they bent the pipes to fit and even installed my stock tips. Sounds much better then stock imo but still not that loud. for the price i think it is the best deal you can get. if you know how to post videos i have a short 12sec one of them.
Took mufflers off 2 years ago, replaced with pipe added 2 great looking exhaust tips! Next time my wife was in the car she said "Now it sounds like a Vette!" Am I lucky or what?!

Mufflers these days do not need to quiet the same degree as older mufflers. That's because cars didn't used to have catalytic converters. CATs quiet about the same amount as glass packs and you should have one on each side.
You also have a resonator in the middle -- which also quiets like a glass pack. Plus, you have mufflers in the back. Silly, you. You thought you only had one muffler!!!!!!!!
If you remove the rear mufflers, it's like you still have two left anyway. The sound will increase but will not be obnoxious. It will sound like a vette should. If you like the stock, sport Mustang sound, you should like the result. The only difference is it will be slighty more raspy.
Best bang for the buck, but you will get some resonance at times, tends to be RPM dependant. Alo, it will get attention from the law at times too. I have had eliminators for about 4 years and love the sound, but am considering a Corsa as I think it would be better for longer trips, etc.
Had mine done last year and loved it.found a great deal on a PE system bought it now i kinda wish i had my elim system back on.PE system kinda quite for me.heres a sound clip of my old system.http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...Picture003.flv
Oh man it's sweeeeeeeeeet! best $80 I've spent yet. Now I wonder if I ever get stopped if I can talk the cop into believing that the resonator is actually the muffler? I actually had to turn the radio off on the way back to work to really enjoy the new exhaust sound...with the windows down. My truck with a 305, headers, free-flow cat and a 3" magnaflow is still louder for casual driving. Now when I stomp on it...it really comes to life, but I would say that it's still quiter than a ton of cars with aftermarket exhausts.
