banging/knocking from tranny...
As of late, when the car is in neutral and the clutch is out there is a very noticible knocking/banging sound coming from the tranny/bellhousing area. It can also be felt through the shifter and the clutch pedal. When the clutch is pushed in it stops. I have no idea and figured one of you gurus would. Oops, the car is a 92 6 speed...

Is it every revolution?
It could be a fork pivot ball backing out, but I'm not sure if engaging the clutch would move it closer or further from the pressure plate.
This happened to Nathan Plemons, ask him what his symptons were. Have you noticed any change in the clutch pedal travel?
Perhaps the throwout bearing also, this rotates in the fork when the clutch is engaged.
Whatever it is, the trans is going to have to come out. Are you positive it's not gear rattle?

I dont' think gear rattle is this severe. I was actually looking at a couple of different places last night and found something that sounds close or is probably it. The statment was basically the inner part of the dual mass flywheel is beginning to come apart and will have to be replaced.
It seems to vary with how loud, and how severe depeding on how long the car has been driven, whether it's level or on an incline, etc. Annying as hell though...looks like some new parts are about to be put on order.
