Default Ruby's Been Hit

Folks: Ruby has been in McDonald's parking lot. The people just kept on backing even after I layed down on my horn. They don't speak English, don't have a valid driver's license and I have never heard of their insurance company....probably not valid. I called the police, but all he could do was fill out a private property accident report and stay with the other people until someone cam to drive them home that had a valid driver's license. Looks like my insurance company will have to repair the damage. Got the front bumper as well as cracked the cowl. I now have cracks eminating from the point of impact. Why do people do these kinds of things???? No respect for other people's property. I am afraid the insurnace compant might total Ruby leaving me with nothing!!!

The police

Hope y'all had a nicer Easter than I did!!!

Sorry to hear about RUBY. They probably did speak English but their home country becomes their ONLY language when they get into trouble. Found that out a few times working for the local Police/Sheriff's Dept here in Florida.

Hopefully it will work out for you and that the respnding Police placed blame where it should be.

Major bummer man... your insuranace will certainly try & recover the $ for anything they have to shell out. Hopefully you can find a good body shop to work w/ you & get the cost down below the total value. Mine was close a couple years ago when I needed a new hood so I feel for you.

I am sorry to hear that! Good luck on ther repairs. Sounds minor, how much is a new hood? How many miles on Ruby?

Ruby has about 75900 miles on her , but she is in GREAT condition. I have done or had performed all of the reliability issues with her since I have owned her.

I think that if you look at the Blue Book value of her, given her age and the cost to repair, it doesn't take much damage for insurance companies to completely total a 13+ year old car.

Yeah and it doesnt help that Corvette parts dont come cheap. Have you seen the price of a hood? Sorry to hear about your luck.

Stay with it. I had the same thing happen but the Insurance Co turned out to be legit abd they paid for all damages. If they total the car you may be able to buy it back from the insurance co and repair it..

The police should have ticketed the driver for operating a vehicle with out a valid license..

Yes. I just checked. Hood=$1593, front bumper=$596 and that doesn't get the parts replaced behind the bumpter not painted.

mine got side swiped and didnt get totaled, they had to replace the hood, bottom filler fender, inner fender, battery tray, replace one wheel, one tire, repair drivers door and the cost of repainting. i hate too hear of your tragedy but i dont think you need too worry about it getting totaled

If they don't have a valid drivers license I doubt if they could get Car insurance
I feel sick just reading about your accident. I am afraid that might happen to me someday.
Good Luck

I have only been hit 1 time by anybody that actually had Insurance and a valid drivers license. ALL THE REST HAD NONE! I've had Three cars totaled and these jerks get away with it. The last one pulled that "no speak English" crap till I pulled his keys out of the ignition and pocketed them. It's amazing how fast he learned to speak perfectly good English within a few seconds! I told my wife to have bail money ready next time cause I'm going "Tony Soprano" on the next one.

i'm terribly sorry for that misfortune, accidents absolutely suck 100% of the time.

i'm hopping mad that the rest of us pay (and pay....and pay....and pay) for what seems to be a growing bulk of losers out there with either no license, no insurance, or both.

why the F aren't they hauled off to jail right then and there?????? and why the H are they getting away with this crap, non stop??????
