I've always used the bronze bushing. Using one right now with my ZF. It's easier to install to the crank without damaging, and easier to thread the needle without damaging, that's it.
A bronze bushing should not fail unless the input shaft (and therefore clutch) are out of alignment, even if the front trans bearing is totally shot.

Because of the tight tolerance on the input shaft with the TKO, Tremec specifies that a needle roller bearing be used with their transmission. They will even void a warranty if evidence is presented that it wasn't used.
