First time in all these 15 years. Still at the mech's. Drove the car 10 miles in 2 years. Just idled twice a month for 1/2 hour. But only gumed up engine. So I failed.
Cost is very high to fix. Failed EGR valve, fouled spark plugs.
SUX.
Dyam.
Your thoughts?

CA is full of crap. I dont understand why everyone thinks its such a glammerous place to live.
I have to ask, have you ever lived here? Or are you saying that cause others have said it?
California has it's issues, no question, but the people, collectively speaking, are rather nice and quite laid back. At the same time, here in LA, there is anything and everything to do at any given time.
It is a cultural center for not only the USA, but the WORLD.
As for your emissions problem, Tony, it's not that bad... change out the plugs, replace the EGR and drive the damned thing. Run it up and down the 405 for about an hour each way and that will blow the crap out of it.
Add a couple of cans of dry gas to about a half tank of gas and then take it immediately to your test station. It WILL pass.
Try a can of seafoam, I swear by that stuff. Ran a can in my truck (70k miles), figuring it didnt build up much carbon as I used to drive it pretty hard. Wrong. It smoked up the block for 30 min, and smoked the next day and a half as I drove it around town. No tailgaters No more stalling in tight turns anymore, either.

Yep if you haven't run it for awhile it will likely fail. Heck you may be able to drive it a few days without changing anything and it could pass. They need to be good and hot during the test for best results. Just make sure the smog machine is NOT connected to the state computer during the pre-test.

It's like this Andy.....It takes about five years to get all the "damnyankee" outta these eastcoasters. Until then, the behavioral balance of SoCal is cyclic.
All we need is one good earth quake and they'll be running back east.
We had a blast in CA couple of years ago. It was our first time in LA and that place was awesome. Flying into LAX you can see lights for it seems about an hour before you land and that was pretty amazing. We stayed downtown at the Wyndom Checkers where some dude gave us a map to the stars. Wow! That map got addicting. We had planned on going to a Laker game but instead we drove all over Hollywood, Bev Hills, Malubi and down the Sunset Strip. We saw Michael Douglas outside his house talking on the cell as we passed. Thought we got a glimpse of Dimi Moore in Malibu. She has a huge house right there on the beach.
But one of the highlights of the trip beside ordering girls up for roomservice was when we drove past OJ'S house at Rockingham and then we drove to the crime scene at Bundy. That was so sureal to all of us. We got out of the car at Nichol's house to really get a good look. You could still see blood in the grout of the tile. So we decided to see how long it took to drive from Bundy to Rockingham. OJ said it took him 45 minutes to make the drive. We did it in 7 minutes the first time at about 10:00 that night. That really blew our minds.
"If you haven't been to LA you need to go."
Before you go, learn Spanish.
I understand all the road signs are being replaced with ones imported from Mexico.
Yes indeed, welcome to Mexifornia.
