where'd you get the cluster from or did you have your's rebuilt?
Thanks to all for the kind words!
The cluster is from 1990 ZR-1 (note 8k tach) Sorry it's hard to hold the camera like how I exactly see it, and you really can't see the grapics on the kenwood, oh well........
Here is the drivers veiw
It is a Raptor Perfrormance piece (www.raptorperformance.com.) Pretty nice, no circuit board just 3 wires 3/4" dia.x 3" length and available in blue, red, and amber.

Nice work. The Raptor is a nice piece, very happy with mine. Besides the track, it also comes in handy on freeway onramps when the music is blaring louder than the engine.

That looks great. I've got a Harland shift light that I've probably had for a good year that I haven't installed yet. My excuse is that there are a bunch of wires that I need to run through the firewall and I want to do them all at once (with a junction block) so there aren't a zillion indiscriminate holes. Is the visibility of the light hidden in the vent as it is good for daytime use? Good enough for a half blind old f*** like myself, I should say?

As long as you get it aimed towards your face, it'll be plenty bright no matter where you put it. The superbright LEDs tend to be more focused then normal lights.

Thanks to all for the knd words!
I had mine about year also and kept going up and back as to how I wanted it wired. In the effort to have a more accuratte signal (no tach filter) I chose to go directly to tach at the distr. I drilled one hole below the steering column. Ran the 3 leads to the ECM, and found a good switched/fused source for power, and a direct ground in the harness going into the ECM (after a godless ammount of time in the electrical sec. of the FSM). I ran the tach lead from there to the distr. and hid the wire in the existing harness tube and all connections were soldered. This is a good location for a nice clean, accessable install.
I originally got the location idea from the GS registry, however I did some things different. If you choose this location (vent)it should be said; that when you cut the hole in the blind location it will be to the far right of that pocket so it will have the light centered to the vent(not the blind hole). Also I removed the 2nd vertical vane from the left, and kept the back side of the vent. This will give you a suitable (nut and bolt) method to secure your light and allow the vent to continue to function properly(instead of blowing air all over the light etc.
As Central Coaster said, the light is plenty bright and visible. Because of where it is mounted isn't directly in your eyes (but in your eyesight), and can be seen while looking straight ahead. If it is to bright, you can then adjust the horizontal on the vent to mask some of it or completly hide it. My radio isn't quite loud enough anymore after I did everthing (on eway can still hear motor).....I think I will have to upgrade stereo.....Again.......
