Default 1994 heater

I was out driving my '94 LT1 this weekend and even though it was warm out I thought I was feeling heat coming from the heater which at the time was in the off position. Has anyone ever experienced this? I had a '72 and that baby always ran hot inside. Could it be just heat from engine leaking back into the cab? Any thoughts? Thanks

I have. My take is even if the A/C and heat are off, the vents are a conduit for heat from the engine and transmission.

I keep the temp about about 65 on really warm days with the top off. I set the speed to low and route the air to the feet.

That makes sense to me and kinda what I thought. I'll try your 65 degree trick. Thanks for the reply.

Same here. If the temp setting is near the higher range even if the AC - heat unit is off I get hot air. I turn the temp down and that works.

Good luck.

Me to. If the system is turned off and the heat is set high, I can feel heat out of the vents. I think that is because as you drive the impact air is going down the air intake in front of the windshield. The doors and shutters probably don't seal that tight and has leakage thru it so there is a slight flow. The temperature control is still in the loop even if the fan is not operating. So in the summer if you have it on hot, you will get heat. So I just keep it on cold and that small airflow is not then noticed.

I just posted something on this yesterday. I found the hvac system allows hot air to continue to circulate thru the heater at all times. I stuck an inline shutoff valve in the heater in line, and it made a world of difference! No more hot feet and cold face (from the ac). Only cost a few bucks and took less than an hour.
