well I guess whatever the shop did when they inspected it, must have helped something.....I got back to work after picking the car up, and the key was still stuck, but then I got home last night, and it came out. I later went to the store and back, and it came out both times again. Got to work this morning, and it came right out again......So I guess it will probably just be tempermental until it finally craps out for good one day.
I couldn't find anything in the FSM about a shift lock cable, but I did find info on replacing the Park/Lock Control Cable. It's a dozen or so steps to replace, if your interested let me know and I'll detail the steps.

I am a noob when it comes to vettes, but I have to be in reverse to get my key out. I have a manual tranny though.
