Not a Ruby, but for what its worth. I paid $14,000 for my red '90, vert 6 speed, 55,000 miles. It was in great shape. I think I paid top dollar. I would call it a fair deal, not a good deal.
Any one who owens a C4 has lost value (I own 2) because they are used cars, not collector cars. Now is the time to buy the early models, and Callaways, if you want to have increased value over time. All of us will have to wait 5 to 10 years to see the beginning of apreation in value with these cars. I aggree the forum can be brutal on sellers, so if you own one keep it and enjoy it for afew more years. Like stocks, buy low, and sell high. Timming is every thing, and all the other comments have merrit as well.
To sit on a car and keep miles off it for the next 10-20 yrs just for the sake of money makes no sense. TO me the maintenance would offset any profit.
If you just like a garage queen to look at I guess I can appreciate that but prefer the thrill of driving it myself.
I purchased a 1990 Auto Vert with Hardtop and 75,000 miles for $8,000 three months ago. It was in very good condition, just needed a few little things (and a new soft top to bring it up to new). I wasn't going to pay more than the cash I had to blow on it. My motto is never finance a toy, and I know there are other people that believe the same thing. If I can't pay cash for it, I can't afford it. This knocks the higher price cars out of alot of folks range. If I could use it to make money, then I could justify a monthly bank note. I'm just relaying how some people think when buying a Vette.
I bought my 91 white vert about 6 months ago for 14000, But it's very clean and 60,000 miles. Not that I'm trying to justify what I spent, It's all in the eye of the beholder and if makes you happy than go for It.
Wow, that IS weird. I was looking at a 25th anniv. coupe last year and my CU told me they'd give me 80% of the value of the car. And they always use the highest value.
I work for a CU and I'm the Auto Dealer Rep, so I actually work with car dealers trying to get them to use us for loans. We look at credit rating, so depending on your credit score is what we will lend. All CU's are different, so not a slam. Our guidline is using NADA retail and again depending on your score, we go from 80% LTV to 125% LTV (loan to value)
Some CU's are very conservitive and won't lend on older rigs like our Vette's they would rather lend on a newer C5 or C6. Hope this helps.

Bought my 91 Coupe in Jan 06
27k miles
$13,300
Mostly prestine, cept,
Replaced the roof liner
Installed radio/cd player
I'm thrilled and see's it can't believe I got it for so little.
I come to the foum and feel like I got raped.
Quite sure I can resell it locally for at least what I paid.
Sooo, you figure it out!!!!
I concur with some others above....there is a buyer for every seller at "any reasonable price"
Personally I would not post a C4, or for that matter any Cx here for sale. It is too brutal.
I don't agree, I sold my C4 on the forum in 1 week and I got what I was asking for the car.
I've been told my 93 is not worth more than 6500. I would consider letting it rot in the garage before it goes for 6500.
Who told you that? Do you have 200,000 miles on it and it looks like ****? Otherwise it should be worth at least 10-12K all day long.
Nice C4's still bring good money, I was offered $32,000 for my 90 ZR-1 awhile back.
The key is to know which car to buy. Have cash in hand and be ready to pounce. I've had my 93 now for 2+ years and have put 40,000 additional miles on it and I can still get what I paid for it today.
All cars are not created equal. Most CF members quote crap cars or ebay cars. My 93 is a driver and it looks a few years old if even that.
The problem is that most 93s look rough at this point in time since they are 13 years old already. A car is worth what someone else is willing to pay period.
Exactly 2 years ago I paid $9500. for my stock, very few options '91 coupe. I bought it on ebay. It came from Florida. I was and am very pleased with my purchase.
Corvettes seem to be everywhere in Florida and Texas. The prices there are depressed by Minnesota standards. In Minnesota where I live they are relatively rare. So prices are a bit stronger for the same vehicle. I took a risk by buying on ebay. My reward for this risk is that when I sell my vette up here I will likely get back most of what I paid for it - assuming I am able to maintain it properly.
It has been said that an auction is the most accurate determiner of value. An itm is worth exactly what someone else will pay for it. A willingness to take on risk is also a way to get a "bargain." Or a "lemon." Many people do not want to take on any risk. They will pay more for an item they can actually see and feel and drive. I have had good luck buying carefully researched vehicles on ebay, and will do so for my next Corvette.
And this is not limited to C4s. You can go to virtually any dealer in Minnesota and find '00 or '01 C5s selling for $30,000. or more. Same vehicles on ebay go for $5,000. - $7500. less.
Finally, I agree with some of the other statements made here; the absolute last place to try to sell anything is at the site where everyone already has one or more of the item you are trying to sell.
