jeff knows more about the LT5 than damn near anyone on this board save Grahm. You need to STFU.
This forum is a real drawing card for all the mental giants today isn't it? It would be nice if a moderator would find a friendly Dr. Phil forum somewhere and send all of you smart asts packing over there to bother some of them for a while. Maybe some of you could learn how to be ambassadors for the hobby instead of acting like a bunch of stop light racers dreaming up new ways to generally screw things up.
You're not even talking facts... or in your case fiction any more.
I work alongside a guy who played a role in inventing the LT-1 and was on the LT-5 team. If I want to know why they did some things the way they did I can ask him and get an answer because he was there. We have a pretty good organization here with an incredible number of very smart people. Mr. H calls us his second family and often refers to us as the cream of the crop. This is a difficult organization to join and you had better have a plan and some skills or you won't last here 30 minutes. I have been here doing what I do since 1989. Personally I think you would find yourself way over your head at this level. Have a nice day!

Jeff knows more about the LT5 then most people on the board save Grahm and possibly Rod. This is a fact. If you don't it, that's just too bad.

Well, it looks like I have done it now!! I bought a new triple black 2004 vert a couple of years ago and I thought the car was so gorgous I could not bring myself to drive it except on perfect days. The car currently has a total of 1800 miles. I then thought if I could find a fairly good used C4 I would have a car I could drive in all weather and continue to preserve the newness of the C5. I went to a local car show where there happened to be a pretty good 96 LT-1 coupe for sale so I bought it. A 96 coupe with LT-1 is a great Corvette of course but it's not like it's a CE, GS or an LT-4 or something; more or less average by Corvette standards I guess but I thought it might make a good daily driver. Well, I'll tell you that C4 really impressed me so much that I am thinking of selling the 04 now and looking for a triple black 96 convertible with LT-4. After driving my 96 coupe and comparing to the way the 04 drives and feels I believe an LT-4 vert would be more fun. Especially if I could find one that was a low mileage garage queen like my 04 currently is. Trading up? Thoughts?

I know a fellow, let's call him....Mr. X. Mr. X says you're full of it! HE says you wouldn't know a NASCAR from a bag of potato chips! I've worked with Mr. X for over 35 years now, and he is VERY knowledgable on everything related to NASCAR. He tells me that I rise FAR above the cream of the crop - something akin to the clouds above the cream of the crop. Mr. X considers me not only as part of the family, but like his brother! HIS BROTHER!!!! He is certain the only difficult part of your job is trying to find the broom to go with the dust pan. Hey - Mr. X knows his stuff!
I guess today's our day here isn't it? The cars referred to above in an old post you were so kind to dredge up will be heading out to new homes soon. A new black ZO-6 is planned to replace the 04 and a black LT-4 vert will replace the LT-1 coupe. I am a rekindled interest. I used to have C3s and a new 84 back in the mid-eighties and lost interest after getting too busy with other things. I decided to get involved again after twenty years and bought a new 04 but eventually it occured to me the car is actually boring so it just sits in the garage. I bought a fixer C4 shortly after that mostly to learn C4s and I have had a ball going through everything on it evenings after work. I decided C4s were pretty cool and since this one is just about finished I plan to replace it with a better one.
That's really nice Jeff. You have a way with words that anyone would be proud of. Qualifying is over and the 24 starts fourth right behind Tony Stewart in row two. With the 24 coming off a win at Sonoma we should have a good race in Daytona tomorrow evening if we can stay out of trouble.
Our director was probably was close to the LT-5 project as well. Anybody want to know the inside scoop on the success rate for early LT-5 crankshafts in the two bolt block? Want to know why they changed over to a four bolt design? Want to know how this affected the LT-5s reputation when word of that little deal leaked out?
Wow thats funny since there are a TON of 2 bolt LT5s still out there running why dont you fill us in on the details
The ZR-1 also comes with the stigma of an unreliable engine. Everyone I know mentions it and this is on everyone's mind when thinking of raising their hand. I do know what I am talking about.
You are a tool just becuase all the people you know say its unreliable must be its true, that is just funny to me.
Ill just keep on driving my unreliable ZR1 everyday like I have for the past 5 years except for when Ive been in Iraq
only had to changed the water pump and if you can work on a old chevy 350 you can work on a ZR1 it doesnt take a brain surgen to figure it out just some knowlage that is out there for the taking into your brain housing group.
LT4s were only made so that GM could sell off some cars in 96 since they didnt have the C5 ready thats whey they had 2 special edition cars that year and sales still sucked because everyone wanted to wait for the 97 to come out
the LT1 LT4 and the LS1 LS2 and the LS7 are only here because gm powertrain didnt make the LT5 they had to prove they could put out motors worth a damn the L98 was in the vette from 85-90 and untill the LT5 came out they never put out any HP worth a damn
Lotus was owned by GM at the time they developed the LT5 so they didn't go "outside" GM.
I believe the Malcom Konner Edition at 50 examples would be the most rare of the C4's that were in production.
The most desirable of the ZR1 in my opinion would be the '90, even though they made more of them than the rest of the years, they are unique with the old front bumper and the new style rear bumper with the thin rub strip.
I agree that the '95 Pace should have been 6 speed only(then again I believe that all Corvettes should be manual transmissions).
Grand Sports with red guts are hard to come by, but they are out there.
The 88 Anniversary is the only true Anniversary car GM produced for the Corvette.
The Ruby red of '93 had a separate RPO, but all '93's came with "40th" on the headrests, same goes for 1978 and 2003, only the Z01 of '88 had the 35th markings.
I know I wanted to say more, but that's enough for now.
