Mileage question
ok so I am looking at a '92 LT1 6 speed w/ 87k miles on it. Yes it is owned by someone on the board. Well my question is, how well built was the 92 LT1 being that it was the 1st year for this car? And how many miles can this engine go before it starts to have problems.
Any answers would be greatly appricated.

If it was well maintained and frequent oil changes, hopefully with Mobil 1, it should run for a very long time. 150K Plus.
Only defect I know of is the opti spark is vunarable to moisture. It's a $400 part and a PITA to change.

I bought my 92 in August, 2000 with 83K on the odometer. She now has 92K; I've had to replace the hubs/wheels bearings, brakes, optispark (and water pump to insure the new opti didn't take a bath), plugs and wires. Generally, the items I have replaced are normal maintenance items that would have to be replaced on any car (except for the opti). The Witch is, without a doubt, the most beautiful car I have ever owned. I receive (well... the car does...) compliments all the time on how beautiful she is.
