Default Window Regulator

I have an 88. I've searched for an answer to this question, but haven found it yet....So here it is:

My passenger side window is a bit sluggish. That may or may not be a related problem. It stops short by about two inches of going up if the door is closed. Seems to bind up. Open the door and it goes all the way up. In fact I think it goes a bit too far on the front edge by as much as half an inch. The back edge seems to go up to a good stopping point. If I lower it a bit I can grab the glass and rock it fore and aft a good two inches. IT seems loose to me.

That's the real question....how much play should be in the glass...should I be able to move it so much by grabbing it and rocking it? If not, then what is the usual cause? Broken regulator? Repair or replace?

I just went out to the garage to check on the window play on my 87...NONE. It doesn't move one tiny bit. If I were you I'd just take it to a glass replacement dealer, have them look at it. It probably just needs adjustment of some kind, but if not, they'll find the reason it doesn't work properly.

I tried mine again. Both sides are about the same though the driver's side goes up and stops correctly.
But, Both sides are only really firm (tight) if the window is ALL the way up. Open the door, drop the glasss an inch or two and I can rock them fore and aft a lot. Maybe as much as two inches of play.

Your right...I tested mine when they were right to the top. I dropped the drivers window about 2-3 inches and tried again. It only moved about a half inch or maybe a bit more but nothing like two inches.

In the Tech Tips,I'll let you look, there are some instructions on adjusting window fit. I think it is safe to say you have one that needs adjusting. The slow action may be another matter but I suspect they are related. BYW, adjusting windows is a Corvette task I have yet to master. I simply can not get it exactly right, close but not perfect.
